Madmums came about as a result of
a virtual coffee morning on the Bounty website, April 2005 forum. The Original
members of Madmums were all April 2005 mums to be. From August
of 2004 when some of us first found out we were pregnant, up
until the time of writing this, (July 2005) April mums have
shared and supported each other through our pregnancies and
births. Our first baby, Jacob was
born on the 24th January 2005 to Lennysmall and our last baby
was born 14th May 2005 to SamG1979. Roughly 180 babies
were born in this time.
Since then the community has expanded to include parents and parents to be from all over the globe and we are always happy to see new faces join. We offer a range of free services including a ‘one to one’ support scheme called Madmums Buddies, which has been designed to put parents in touch with other parents who have experience in specific areas of Pregnancy and Parenting. These areas are;
- Breastfeeding
- Caesarean Section
- Education
- Miscarriage
- Post Natal Depression
- Pregnancy
- Single Parenting
- SPD
Madmums is non-commercial, that is to say that we do not exist to make a profit or financial gain from the services we offer, we do however like most, have running costs that must be met each month. We are looking to expand to meet the increasing demand that has been placed on the community due to its growth in popularity recently, immediate future plans include moving the site to a dedicated server as well as a number of other new and exciting things but all of this means additional expense.
In order to meet the additional costs involved we are looking to form a number of commercial partnerships. These could take the form of simple, low cost advertisement of interested party's products on Madmums to full adoption and co branding of the web site, we are very flexible and open to ideas and suggestions. In the near future we intend to move our member's product reviews from its present home, in our discussion forum to a custom designed directory type application, which will allow us to offer more detailed reviews of products that are considered of interest to our visitors, if you have a product that you would like us to test and review then please Contact Us for more information.
