Mate, just found this thread.
I am really proud of you for getting checked with the nurse. It takes a lot of round bouncy things to get the bottle to go and get checked. The nurse you saw is just following protocol, by referring you up the chain to see the gp. Your gp will do exactly the same as the nurse, and he may or may not refer you up the chain to the hospital to the booby unit. You can request a referal to the hospital to set your mind completely at rest.
It is scary, Im not going to lie to you, and tbh this side of any diagnosis is the hardest. Once you know either way of what is going on, then you know what you are or are not dealing with.
Your grandmother may have had breast cancer..but that doesnt mean that you will. You will need as much information to give to your gp when you see him on thursday..as in the age of when she was diagnosed and the outcome etc. If you have access to this info, as well as any other history of cancer within the family. Also, you will need the date of your last period, so they can work out whereabouts you are in your cycle. As for family history they need to be BLOOD relatives to you, not married into the family if that makes sense. One in nine women will come up against some sort of booby problem, so it is very common, and all women are at the same risk regardless of family history or no family history of it.
Keep a positive outlook on it all, and believe me at times that can be hard. At the mo, you are still in limbo land, which is the hardest bit. If you need me, send me a pm or something and I can talk you through any fears or worries or niggly things thats going through your head. In a nutshell, absolutely ANYTHING you want a chat about and im about for you. Don't worry about upsetting me or anything silly like that, cos it doesnt at all, think you might have figured that one out already though.
Chin up chick.
