Hi was just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to get rid of really bad nappy rash. The girls came down with it yesterday and bathing, sudocrem and running around without a nappy does help a little bit but they are still really sore. I know its not through anything they have eaten as they haven't had anything new or different. I know the last few teeth are coming through so thought it may be down to this. If it carry's on i will have to take them to the docs. I just wondered if anyone has any other advice other than what i have already tried. They are just walking around crying and telling me sore.
Also nearly every nappy i change they have filled it! Is this normal? I mean i am changing upto 6 dirty nappys each at the mo. I really don't know what else to do to help them. xxxx

It sounds very much like it could be the teething that is causing it, I would suggest the teething powder you can get and the nappy rash cream that I have found best is one that I'm sure it begins with a 'B' mumsam recommended! lol I just remember that because I had never seen the name til she said about it, then the doctor prescribed it for me (well the little ones! pmsl)

I think i know which one you mean. The hospital gave it Ashleigh when she had a really bad case in the hospital. Bless her she was only about 2 weeks old and she had blistered.
I swore they would never get like that again. I'm sure i've just thrown away some of the sample creams that came with the bounty packs. Mind you they would not have been any good as they were prob out of date.
Thanks Vix will have alook for this and see if i can get it over the counter. If its the one i'm thinking you only put the tiniest bit on the sore. xxx

hi my little one has allways got on with sudocream however i work with the elderly and they get sores we use a cream called cavilion to be applied sparingly. i would ask your pharmacist if this can be used on babys first though also not sure if it is available over the counter or only on prescription. hope there better soon. x

I use Bepanthon and Sudocrem on Ols bum when it gets sore. The Bepanthon is good, quite oily where as the Sudocrem dries the skin out a bit more. The good thing with Bepanthon is it has vaseline in it so gives a protective barrier to the skin to stop urine burning it further. Other than that it sounds like you are doing everything else right. If it doesn't clear up or turns into little red spots or blisters then it could be thrush which is very common in little girls so you will need some Caneston then to clear it up. For teathing I use Ashtons and Parsons teething powders you can get them in any chemist it really settles their tummies and stops the continous dirty nappies that burn the skin more. hth

I use bepanthem on everything lol, Its fantastic.
I also use zinc and castor oil cream on Louis bum at most nappy changes when I remember, but only when its not sore it just helps to keep his bum nice and soft and helps prevents nappy nash.

Cavilion is brilliant i use it on my 2 lo's, you can buy it on the internet, it is quite expensive but worth every penny. Cavilion comes in a spray or a cream, both are as good as the other.
I also use bepanthem which is great too.

Emily has had a few "flare ups" in her time i always use sudacreme at every nappy change just to protect her from gettin it in the first place i find that helps quite a bit - i know its not really of any help to you...i hope their lil bottys are back to normal soon hunx

Hi well they are both much better today. Alsthough Ashleigh still has it quite bad its no where near as read or as sore. Thanks everyone i will look into getting these creams. I've been naughty this morning and stayed in bed so missed getting to any chemists near by that are open doh. xxxx
