Hi everybody. I'm new on here but i'm hoping someone might be able to help me.

For the past 2 months now i have bled a little in the middle of my menstrual cycle, i think it's around the time of ovulation. I looked on the NHS direct site and it said that this can sometimes happen when ovulating and it's normal. The thing that is worrying me is it has never happened before, and it doesnt make sense why it has started to happen. I was just wandering if anyone else has this. I've got all sorts of daft things going on in my head now, me and my other half have just decided to have a baby but now i keep thinking something is wrong.

If you are concerned there is no harm in taking a trip to your GP for reassurance. I have a lot of menstrual problems, Ive hardly bled in 3 years so Im really no help to you. I dont recall spotting around ovulation when I was having a normal cycle but it was a long time ago. Every woman is different, and our normal pattern can change. I wouldnt worry, but if its on your mind I would make an appoinment babe!

And welcome to madmums :)

If your worried see your gp, especially as you are trying for a bubs now!  I only ever had a little bleed part way through after I had conceived (I'm really weird!) lol  Good luck!

Hi, welcome to Madmums glad you found us.

Bleeding around the time of ovulation is very normal and nothing to worry about.  It doesn't always happen every month so don't be concerned about it only just starting to happen, in fact it means the opposite some light spotting at the time of ovulation is meant to be very positive and can indicate a strong ovulation.

I occasionaly get some very light spotting at the time of ovulation, I know I am ovulating due to +OPK's and a thermal shift the next day.  You also get Egg White type Cerivcal Mucous and that can be blood streaked, please don't worry about it at the time of ovulation it is normal.  If however you have spotting at other times other than ovulation or the beginning of AF for several months in a row it can indicate a hormonal problem and that might need checking out but if you are sure it's at ovulation don't worry in fact the opposite be happy!!

Thanks to you all, i'm not half as worried as i was now! It definately only happens in the middle of the cycle so i'm thinking it must be normal. I might just see my gp anyway to completely put my mind at rest. But thanks again, you have all been helpful.

It's a good idea to check in with your gp when you start to conceive, he can advice you on vitamin supplements and folic acid.  Also it gives you a date on your medical records when you started should you need any help in the future.  Taking your basal body temperature can also give you a good indication on how long your luteal phase is and when you ovulate in your cycle contrary to popular belief we don't all ovulate on day 14 and have a 14 day luteal phase.

Good luck with ttc and keep us updated.
