A friend of mine is due to have a c-section next week and is going to have a spinal as local anesthetic. She was asking me what effects if any I had after mine, and so I wondered what other people experienced if they had a spinal?

I found that the actual spinal injection wasn't anything like I'd imagined and I felt absolutely nothing during the op. Afterward I'd been discharge and come home, I did find that I got an occassional pain in my back around the area where the injection was put in. It was a bit like a spasm and I'd have to stop what I was doing and wait for it to pass. I think this carried of for about a month, but then stoped.

Did anyone else have any after-effects after a spinal?

    I had no side effects from either of my spinals I had for my c sections so hopefully she will be alright.

I has a spinal, and in all honestly i had no after-effects as soon as i got the feeling back in my lower body i was fine, even the midwives etc couldnt belive how well i coped and recovered so quickly i was also able to leave hospital early.

they used to laugh at me walking up and down the corridoors i was even in my own clothes on the 3rd day staying in p-js naffed me off pmsl.

I also will admit i did really push myself all the ladies around me for the first 2 - 3 days never got out of bed to change there baby pick them up go for breakfast, dinner etc basically stayed in bed a rang the bell everytime they needed anythin, prehaps it was because im a little naive or it was my first but i didnt want to put on anyone so i did everythin for myself - im proud of myself because i know a fair few friends who went through the same as me and didnt recover as quick so i do feel im a lucky one.

my worse part after was having my stitch out i was panicing like mad i thought it would kill - but luckily i was pain free i didnt feel a thing it was still numb - thank god xx

I had no effects after the spinal. I felt nothing through the op, just felt like someone was washing up in my tummy. I had the odd twinge in my back when I got home, but I'm not sure if was because of the spinal

I had a spinal last week and have had no after effects at all.....I was up and about the next morning with no problems..

but I could feel loads during the actual operation..much more than I expected to...

I had a spinal and didnt have any bad effects although I could feel a lot of what was happening. When the 'cleaned me out' (sorry)  could feel pain high up like the spinal wasnt high enough and wasnt blocking all the pain out there and I found it really uncomfortable.

However after the op I was like Jecko - up and about and doing everything for myself as soon as possible. I kept my baby with me all night and fed without help or assistance.

I had a spinal and was fine.  My leg shot off the stool as it was put in but I couldn't feel anything during the op.  Had a couple of slight twinges in my back where it just felt a bit hot in one spot for a second or two for about a week after but was up and about the next day.
