Don't know what happened to the title. I probably made it too long. It should read

"What is the best piece of parenting advice you have ever received?"

Sorry if this is in wrong place.

Received loads but the only one that ever sank in and proved totally true is "give your kids white chocolate as long as is humanely possible, as much easier to wash off clothes, furniture, carpets and curtains than milk chocolate

What would you's say was the best advice about kids or bringing them up that was ever given to you.

Only you truely know your own child so do it your way and dont let anyone critizie you.

My mum gave me this advice and its the best advice I've had as it gives me the confidence to know that I know whats best for my son.

'Join madmums'  was the best piece of advice that I ever had!  I still can't believe that after all these kids there are still some things that I don't know!  And who better to offer you help and support than other moms.  Living in the middle of nowhere, and not being able to drive when I had my first 3, was really difficult.  And to be honest I much prefer being able to chat on here and ask advice, as I don't always agree with my mom's advice that she gives.

"Forget all advice given to you and do what works for you" of course don't forget that piece of advice...  I just smile and nod at well meaning people and parents and then ignore them helps keep my sanity, avoids unnecessary confrontation and they go away thinking they helped.

The best advice I've been given is 'trust your own instincts' and the only routine you have to follow is the one that suits you and baby!

Read and sing to your wee ones as often as possible.  It's magic.

Unfortunately for my wee ones I'm a rubbish singer- but they don't seem to mind- yet!

Nice one Giles!  PMSL Lynie!  I didn't think my Welsh was too bad either til ds1 came home at 6 and started correcting me! lol  As for my singing, I have to endure theirs (as that's what they tell me it is) so they can endure mine! lol
