Well, we all said if any one of us was going to have it then it'd be me or Taz (we are so alike our dad lol)

My iron level was high, and liver test showed signs of damage already, plus yellowing/ rusting of my eyes and a positive genetic test for haemochromotosis, it kind of all went against me really rofl

Im ok, and I am young. They wont confirm it is haemochromotosis until the specialist has basically re-run all the tests, and I wont be seeing the specialist for a few months yet lol

I am a little bit shocked, as I think deep down we all expected to get the all clear lol I have age on my side, and it will probably delay or prevent most of the symptoms by knowing early.

I will worry about getting Joshua tested once I have been told for definiate by the specialist. He really is very young and wont be at all effected now.

What a bummer!  What is the next step for you, after seeing the specialist?

Not nice to be diagnosed with anything but sometimes it's better to know than not know.  It may explain some of your other problems too Chris reading this:

Thanks Sam!

Erm, next steps upon confirmation is just regular blood draining. I think they take a pint at set intervals, and depending on how the body reacts these intervals are shorterned and lengthened.

My GP said its not necessary to make any changes yet, but my dad has been told to completely cut out red meat and alcohol, I guess in time I will have to watch my diet. Might be advised I dont turn into an alocoholic too hehehe

Ok that article has shocked me some what pmsl.. I knew that it can effect periods and cause abdominal pain. I think I will stop reading the web and wait to see what awaits me lol

I thought it was quite interesting that it can affect your periods and give arthritic type pain with your gynae problems and your wrists.  It might be worth mentioning it to your other consultants when you see them next so at least they know about it.

You're still young chick and we're all here for you.  I'm still to be tested and only time will tell.  Just make sure you stick to all the rules you're given, even in the alcohol department, lol.  Maybe this is the cause of all your other problems like we said last night so it could be a good thing its been discovered and the right treatment can start.
