For the last 8/9 years I have suffered chronic allergies in my sinuses. I sneeze at the slightest thing, have to hoover my bed daily, I need shares in Kleenex lol I have had 3 operations to try and correct my nose shape and reduce the allergies (its something to do with the bridge and a swollen tube lol) but non of them have been long term successful. The most recent one had next to no effect what so ever. I take 40mg of certerizine (equivilant to 4 of the 1 a day tablets) per day. This has been fine in the winter months, keeping my allergies nicely at bay. However now I have got chronic hayfever. My eyes are swollen, nose is huge, sneezing like there's no tomorrow! My doctor really doesnt advise increasing my antihistimines. Priton has no effect, nor does laratidine. I dont know what else to try!

How can I help the hayfever symptoms? Each year I seem to get worse not better. The consultant I had last time said they'd break my nose and rebuild the bridge to see if that would help, but it would mean more waiting lists, more complications to my already complicated health file. And to be honest it holds the same success rate as the other operations, but more pain and more mess, Im not sure I see the point. This is only the start of the summer, I will have cut my nose off by the end of it if this is how its going to be lol

My mum has a nose spray and an inhaylor thingy plus tablets - all prescribed but the seem to work ok for her if she remembers to use them.

I'm suffering terribly with sinuses and hayfever this year so I sympathise!

I'm on piriteze at the moment, but I hate to know how bad it's gonna get! I might actually have to go to docs and see what I can get!

Hmmm..there are a few things you can try.

Get some vaseline and put a bit under your nose, and under your eyes, that helps to trap the pollen, doesnt get rid of it, but helps a bit.

Another one, is buy LOCAL honey, and start eating it as that helps to build your bodies immunity to the pollen.  Its got to be local honey rather than the mass produced stuff.

Keep some cucumber in the fridge to slice up for sore eyes.

Hayfever and allergies are a bummer, im not allowed to take anything this year so im dreading it..so you have my full sympathy.  Im allergic to gawd knows what, so this summer is going to be interesting.  Only other thing I can think of is shut the doors and windows and hide til september.
