My little one is 4 and a half months old. everyonr says that he should be weaned by now. He is happy on milk and he has just dropped one of his feeds. with everyone saying this i am really starting to become unsure of what i am doing. I was just going to wait till he is ready. What do you all think. Should i just trust my instinct on this one?

Yes! Go with your instinct and let your child lead you. Its advised not to wean los until 6 months now anyway. So long as your child is satisfied on the formula/breast feeds, and is gaining weight appropriately then I dont see why you shouldnt follow your instinct. All los are different, and they dont all follow the same pattern especially on weaning/potty training etc Its easier for an on looker to say oh he is such an age and should be doing such a thing.. he is your child and you know him and his needs best!

You know him best so go with your instinct. Babies don't have to be weaned until 6mnths and some will go until 9mnths if they are breastfed quite happily. Ignore everyone else you know best.

Just to add to whats been said, please please don't be talked into doing something just because well meaning people say they should.
Every child is different. When we were babies, the advice was very different and some of us probably had solids at a few weeks old. Some babies need early weaning, some will happily wait until 6 months plus.
If your baby is happy with milk, and like you've said has cut one feed, then carry on as you are. When he's ready to wean, his milk intake is likely to go up, he may start to take an interest in your food and he may start to wake in the night hungry. These are all signs of being ready to wean and if he's not there yet, then thats good and just stay as you are.

I'm on my 5th child, and all I can say is go with your instincts. Ignore the well meaning advice if it goes against what you feel. When I started to please and do what everyone suggested I found I became a quivering wreck! Enjoy your baby and let your baby guide you!
