My sister had an eptopic pregnancy 4yrs ago which resulted to alot of damage to one of her tubes

At the start of this year, her and my bil decided they wanted to ttc number3, but are having no joy. She came off her oral pill in the October of last year but still nothing.

I was just wondering if anyone who has suffered an eptopic pg, successfully fell pg after wards or if they needed help in conceiving.

She is frustrated and concerned that she isn't going to fall pg and she desperately wants another baby.

Personally I haven't experienced this myself thankfully.  There is someone I know who has gone through similar.  When I was pregnant with Ollie she suffered 2 mc's and then just after I had him she had an ectopic pregnancy, she had never had any children.  Her fallopian tube was very damamged and she had to have it removed.  As you can imagine her husband and her were very upset as they had already suffered 2 mc's and now it looked like it was going to be really difficult to have a baby.  It took her a further 9mnths to concieve but they went on to have a lovely healthy baby girl so it is possible.

Is she having regular periods?  She could try charting so that she recognises the optimum time to try.  Some people also take a long time to get back to normal after coming off the pill whilst others seem to get pregnant if they miss one pill.  Has she been to the GP and told him they are trying.  This is worth doing early on incase she does need help as then it is logged how long she has been trying for.  some gp's make you wait a year or 6mnths depending on age before they will consider helping.

My old sgt had an ectopic pg..she ended up being medevacd from the island we were on at the time..she had to have her tube removed.  Shed had two mc before this, and they were trying for a second child.  14 months later she fell pg and had a baby boy.  She didnt need help with conceiving..but was told by docs that as she only had the one tube..it might take longer for her to fall pg..due to the fact that not each ovary produced eggs every month..and just had to wait for her remaining ovary with tube to do the biz.

my best friend had an ectopic pregnancy last year - they almost removed her tube but as she only had one left anyway (she'd had the other removed the year before due to severe endometrioisis), they gave her the injection instead which makes the pregnancy sort of dissolve..

she had a procedure (dye forced down the tubes and monitored via ultrasound) done late last year to check the damage to the tube and it confirmed that it was actually okdespite them telling her it would be severely damaged...has your sister had this done?  does she know how much damage has been done?  has she only got the one damaged tube left or both?  I think you ovulate from one ovary one month and the other the next so she should be able to conceive if she has both remaining?

4 months doesn't sound like a long time to be TTC so perhaps it will just take a bit of time?

my friend is now 9 weeks pregnant btw..HTH

A friend of mine had one ovary and tube removed due to an ectopic pregnancy. She was told that she was clinically infertile, and now she has 2 daughters.

I know it doesn't always happen as easily as this, but there certainly is a high chance of getting pregnant without help with only one tube. Like Sam says though, it would probably be worth going to the GP so that they can get help as soon as poss if they do need it. Good luck to them.

My sis in law had a still birth, then an ectopic and now has a little boy, all in the space of about 19 months, so it is possible. Like others have said it might take a little longer than normal, due to only one working ovary and tube, but its not impossible. Maybe she should have a chat with her gp and see if there is anything else that can be done to check on the condition of her remaining tube?
