apparently...GRRRRRRRRR!

Anyone else's MIL insist that their kids were potty trained really young?

My MIL has a photo of DH on the potty when he was about 6 months old and keeps saying "oh, he was on the potty really early, people seem to wait a very long time to potty train these days"....I FEEL LIKE SCREAMING "SO WHAT, I WANT ELLIE TO BE TRAINED QUICKLY NOT TAKE MONTHS" GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!   but I'm too soft so I'll just rant on here lol

Even if he was sat on the potty, it doesn't mean he was potty trained, more like pot luck!

When Eds was a year old he pooed on his potty every morning.

Then he changed his 'poo time' and he hasnt done it since.

Dont be pressurised babe - she'll do it when shes ready!

i dont have a mil so im also lucky too i think (exept on baby-sitters lol)- i do have mates though who keep bragging about how young there children trained, the one keep saying her lad was 12 months and potty trained well hes three now and i remember him in the summer of last year wearing nappies - i just bite my tongue, it drives me crazy when people think its a race and have to go one better, they will do it in there own time when they feel good and ready, xx jue xx

Jen (strawberry) was potty trained at 9 months. But that was because she had severe nappy rash and basically was more comfortable to potty train, apparently she did it herself practically.

Luckily I dont have a MIL and my mum is very supportive on letting me do things my own way with Joshua!

Supposedly folk of our mothers/ mothers in law's generation didn't potty train us, we were potty timed.  That means we were plonked on a potty at regular intervals, hence we seemed to be trained.  But, hey, who could blame them with all those terry toweling nappies!

She'll do it when she's ready.  I was up to high dough when Alex hit 3 and didn't use the potty or toilet, but then it clicked and he never looked back.   I wish I didn't spend so much time now worrying about it, and now I'm not worried a bit over Emilie, I'll wait until she's ready.

Not got a MIL but next door neighbour in her early 70's I think said her kids were potty trained around 14 months.

Also heard a little while back on the baby channel (at my mum's) some idea in the States about not using nappies from birth except out and about. Some thing about developing world countries, like African mum's, recognising signals and holding baby to wee/poo in a toilet area or potty.

Anyhow i'm still trying with my DD aged 31 months and 3 weeks. Now using Potty Training pants as she has generally mastered using the toilet apart from poo's!
