My friends little one has got parvovirus (slapped cheek disease). Does anyone know if this is contagious at all and what type of rash appears and any other symptoms? My little one has been ill for a week and wonder whether it could now be this????? They've ruled out chicken pox, queried an allergy to penicillin. He did have an ear infection though.

    poor wee man.

Hi hun its a rash that is very red and its on the cheeks.

As far as i know it looks very sore but it isn't. This is very dangerous for pregnant women who are less than 20 weeks pregnant.

Apparently this comes from cats feaces.

I know because i had a scare with it when i was pregnant my cousin had it. Have you looked it up on the web? xxxxxx

P.s yes it is contagious.

www.surgerydoor.co.uk/medical_conditions/indices/S/slapped_cheek_disease_.htm - 10k

Copy and paste this hun. It tells you what it is and what causes it. xxxxx

hmm. He has a rash on his face but i wouldn't say it looks like that. Can you have diarrhoea and vomiting with it? Looked it up but keep getting sites on canine and feline parvoviruses.

His rash is round his eyes and chin. Any ideas? Linked to the ear infection??

Just had a look at the site. cheers. Not sure if it is. Will reasess his rash in the morning and speak to the doc if i think it is. Thanx girlies x

He's been grumpy all day but is fine thanx. The s***s and vomiting have stopped and the rash is still there but is fading. The last week has been one hell of a rollercoaster with him. Fingers crossed it's all sorted nopw though.
