I will try to keep this as brief and not to bore you all too much, but I really need to know if anyone else has had a similar experience and what the outcome was, as much to make me feel abit less of a freak as anything else.

For the last three months my periods have been lighter and shorter then usual,I have had very sore tender boobs, which have definately increased in size, been feeling sick on and off, very tired sometimes even from when I first wake up to when I go to bed again but mostly coming on early afternoon and I feel like I can keep my eyes open, I have been having funny pains which are kind of sharp but not too painful in my pelvis but feels like its in the bone if that makes sense and just recently I have put on alot of weight, Ive been on a diet and for the last 4 weeks havent really cheated but havent lost a lb havent really gained any either but went away last week so took a break from diet and despite not pigging out particually I have put on quite a bit of weight for one week, for the past month I have looked bloated constantly although often not felt bloated my OH even commented I looked pregnant a few weeks ago, and Ive got bigger since, its certainly not a hard bump or anything just a general thickning around middle particually tummy which was flat before and definately not now!

I have done a few pregnancy tests all have been negative and I am on the pill I have been to the doctors who didnt seem too concerned just said they thought it was my hormones playing up and to maybe try changing my pill, I have had this happen before about 6 months ago but I had missed some pills at the time and I actually missed my period totally, all the tests were negative and my docs were sure I was pregnant but testing to early but eventually said it was very unlikely I was pregnant with tests being negative and started doing blood tests etc to look for other causes of my symptoms (that time I was being very sick luckily just feel it this time) all tests came back normal and after a month and a half I had a very heavy clotty bleed and all symptoms stopped, one doctor implied I may have had a miscarage (and was quite rude about it!) and I was basically told no point looking into it any more as all problems had gone so that was that. But now its happening again it doesnt seem like my doctors are particually concerned or realise that to me it is a very real problem and saying its just your hormones playing up and leave it a cycle or two isnt very helpful, im fed up with feeling so lousey and not knowing why my boobs are agony at the moment im not sleeping well cause I cant get comfortable and when I do sleep I have the weirest dreams and wake up feeling shattered.

Sorry to moan so much for keeping it short any one who has been in a similar possition or has any advice it would be very much appreciated!

I wish I could offer some substantial advice. I fell pg on the pill but I had a positive test within a week of being due on. I do know however of many women who test neg in the first 2-3 months of pregnancy. Which tests are you using? Are they all definate negs or is there a very faint line?

If it were me I'd either ask to see a different doc and ask for a second opinion. Explain everything and ask to be refered for a scan. It may take a while but it should be possible. Or lie and say you had a faint positive and now you are concerned and get a scan that way. As I say this is just what I would do.

I hope someone can offer more advice than me. If you are pregnant it is important to look after yourself and not diet and your baby will need lots of sustinance.

Hi hun moan away as thats what we are here for.

What kind of pregnancy tests have you used? If you are you surely should be showing now although don't quote me on that hehe on the test i mean. You don't say how old you are. It could be your hormones. I'm having a rough time with mine at the mo. I need to change my pill as my periods have gotten heavier and my temper is terrible. I know its down to my pill as i have been on it for around 6 months also.

Like you have said it prob is your pill. Everything you have said does sound like you are pregnant but i went through a similar thing a few weeks back and i wasn't.

sorry i'm not much help but it prob is your pill. Some women just can't get on with it. xxxx

i posted recently asking for some advice and pretty much posted exactly what you have...i had been on the patch for a month and it weould seem it was just my hormones allover the place...my boobs are still sore and swelled, but i dont mind that i want bigger boobs,haha....the hormones from contraceptives can mimic preg symptoms in your body, you have to find the right one for you, maybe ask your doc to change your pill for you ? hth xxx

Thanks for your replies! I really dont think I could be pregnant and still not showing positive on test, I know rarely people dont show on the urine tests for some reason a know a couple of people like this and I kinow people sometimes have light periods when they are pregnant but I think it would be very unlikely I would have both, it does worry me if there is even a slight chance I could be pregnant about ensuring I look after myself properly I have asked doctors for a blood test but they wont do one its not their policy!

I am 23 I have been on the pill a long time I have been on this one previously with no problems and the have been on it for about 6 months before all this started, last time this happened I was on a different pill one I had been on with no problems for about 5 years so dont know if you can suddenly develop problems with a pill but its certainly what the doctor seems to think, I dont know! I just feel so frustrated about it all and feel so awkward explaining to people whats going on so generally keep it to myself, OH knows im suffering with my boobs and have been to doctors but cause of how he reacted last time Ive mostly not spoken to him about it much and feel quite alone to be honest!

Well we'll be here to help you. I know my dp seriously overreacted when I had some odd pregnancy symptoms a few months ago so I understand about keeping it from him!

I'm Maddy btw, mum to Edward who is 2 years old.

It might be worth coming off hormonal contraception for a few months to let your body calm down. Use condoms or natural methods (charting etc) but give your body a break from all the false hormones.

Find a sympathetic gp and talk through your options.

Your body has probably become used to the pill as sometimes this happens. Your body could just be going through a hormone change.

I know this happens every once in a while or in my case most of the time pmsl.

Either way i hope you get to the bottom of it. xx

Thanks for the replies, I had been toying with coming off the pill to see if things calm down without all the false hormones but OH isnt keen and one doctor told me she really didnt think I should do that cause alot of people that decide to come off pill and just use condoms end up pregnant within a short while, the last doctor I saw was very nice talked to me for quite awhile about my options and seemed to think comming off the pill would be a good idea.

Thanks everyone for your replies and suport! What a lovely site!!!!

I guess I beter book another trip to the doctors and have another discussion with them, I wish they would do a blood test so I dont have a little voice of doubt every now and then saying what if I was pregnant Id hate to be and not be looking after myself as I should but I know it is highly unlikely it would just be nice to be 100% sure!
