Ive known it happen to two of my mates..they just thought they were putting on weight, but as they thought they were still having periods they never tested..they got a shock when erm movements where felt put it that way.

Go back to your docs, stamp your feet..take no prisners hormones are obnoxious things and need to be watched/monitored and controlled..take it from one who knows lol!

Id say come off your pill..go synthetic hormone free for at least 6 months..speak to gynaes etc..if your gp is no help ask to see a gynae..get all checked out and find out what your options are chick.

Hiya and welcome to madmums!

I posted only last week describing many of the same symptoms. I have had menstrual problems for 3 years now. I havent had a regular cycle, infact I have only had 2 periods in all that time and both those were extremely light. I have experienced the heavy pains, sharp pains in the lower abdomen and pelvic area. Recently I have had more sharp pains than heavy pains, I have grown a cup size, I have extremely sore and tender boobs, my weight will not shift no matter what I try, infact I have gained about 10 pounds despite eating well, I am tired and up until about 3 days ago I was struggling eating due to the nausea, and despite knowing I could not be pregnant (well I'd be well into the second trimester) I did endless amounts of tests which all came back negative. I also went through all this 18 months ago, cravings and all!

When I first started with my symptoms my GP was fantastic, he tried everything almost straight away. Bloods, scans more bloods and in the end he referred me to see a gynaechologist. My gynae doctor was much like this doctor you describe. She said it would sort itself out, and if it didnt then they would sort in it time. They made absolutely no effort to find out what was wrong, they did only 1 blood test, which they lost, and then said there was no need to repeat as they didnt suspect it would show anything anyway. Soon after I was discharged.

My pain intensified, I had tried everything my GP had said, it was much worse on the contraceptive pill so I took myself off it. I still had no cycle and I still had pain, but it was moderate. I went back to my GP and he tried other prescription drugs, with no effect. I then moved and I have now got a new gynae doctor. She is fantastic and running the necessary tests.

There might be nothing to show, but as many have said, dont let them fob you off without having the right tests to show that there is nothing. Im awaiting more tests and have another appointment soon. My GP and gynae are now working as a team and they have my best interests at heart. They might find nothing wrong with me, although there has to be an answer for the pain and lack of cycle. I kept on pushing for the tests because I know my body, I know what I feel, they dont, to them its just words. If you dont feel right, which you dont, then make sure they do something about it.

Keep us informed, and I hope you get some answers soon!

Scary!! This is what I really worry about Id hate to find out I was pregnant and hadnt been looking after myself as I should although it is very unlikely I have tested a number of times and all have been negative!

I spoke to OH last night and told him I have decided to come off the pill for awhile, he wasnt over the moon but he was ok about it and understood why I needed to do it, got just over a week left of this pack and see the doctor the day after I take my last pill, really hoping this makes a difference!!!

Mum2joshua thanks for your reply! It is so good for me to hear from someone going through the same kind of thing, until now no one I have spoken to has ever really heard of anyone having the same or similar problem even one of the doctors I went to see looked totally stumped and had no idea what to do or say (he had to go and ask for a few second opinions!) made me feel like a right freak! I hope your tests get to the bottom of your problem please keep me updated I will be very interested to hear if they find a cause! I will ask my doctor about being refered to a gyne doctor and see what she thinks

I bet what a shock! The thing that worries me is if you tell your doctor you havent missed any pills thats the end of it they wont even contemplate that you could be pregnant, or my doctor wont anyway, which is frightening considering the number of people who have told me they got pregnant on the pill without missing any! My doctors are adament that if you have a negative pregnancy test you are definately not pregnant which im sure in the majority of cases is true but Ive also spoken to alot of people who say they were pregnant and still having negative test results til 10 weeks, 12 weeks etc one lady I know has three children and has never had a positive urine test, surely the doctors should know this!!!

I am seeing a doctor who I like alot and used to look after her daughter when I was a nursery nurse so find it easier to talk to her and find she makes more of an effort to find answers for me so hopefully this appointment will be more useful then the others!

Thanks! I worry about my OH thinking I did it on purpose if I was to get pregnant, although I have spoken to him and he assures me he wouldnt!

I have just found out my sister thinks shes pregnant, im so angry she has no where to live after being kicked out her flat for not paying the rent, loads of depts, no job, no boyfriend and has purposely gone out and tried to get pregnant which I imagine involved unprotected sex with a number of strangers! She drinks til she passes out in the middle of busy towns and alsorts has been taking drugs and on top of all this is diabetic Im so angry I feel like disowning her!!!

The timings not right for us to have a baby right now but I am finding it very difficult all these people round me getting pregnant and Im getting all the symptoms but nothing good out of it at the end! I am feeling quite broody right now might be the hormones (hope so!) but my sister found out she was pregnant a month after all this started again for me, now my other sister and my mum and dad are both talking bout having more kids with their new partners (even thought they can be bothered with ones they have got!) and I dont think I could cope with that too right now!

I also fell pregnant, twice, whilst on the pill. The suggestion for the first pregnancy was that I had been taking it for so many years without a break, and so it failed to work. The second time well it was the same brand of pill but I had had a break whilst pregnant with Joshua but it was because of these pregnancies I opted for alternative contraception, which then lead to my problems  Oh there's Joshua's pregnancy... now that was a conception with a story lol

I hope you hget some answers from your doctor, do keep us up to date!
