Hiya and welcome to madmums!
I posted only last week describing many of the same symptoms. I have had menstrual problems for 3 years now. I havent had a regular cycle, infact I have only had 2 periods in all that time and both those were extremely light. I have experienced the heavy pains, sharp pains in the lower abdomen and pelvic area. Recently I have had more sharp pains than heavy pains, I have grown a cup size, I have extremely sore and tender boobs, my weight will not shift no matter what I try, infact I have gained about 10 pounds despite eating well, I am tired and up until about 3 days ago I was struggling eating due to the nausea, and despite knowing I could not be pregnant (well I'd be well into the second trimester) I did endless amounts of tests which all came back negative. I also went through all this 18 months ago, cravings and all!
When I first started with my symptoms my GP was fantastic, he tried everything almost straight away. Bloods, scans more bloods and in the end he referred me to see a gynaechologist. My gynae doctor was much like this doctor you describe. She said it would sort itself out, and if it didnt then they would sort in it time. They made absolutely no effort to find out what was wrong, they did only 1 blood test, which they lost, and then said there was no need to repeat as they didnt suspect it would show anything anyway. Soon after I was discharged.
My pain intensified, I had tried everything my GP had said, it was much worse on the contraceptive pill so I took myself off it. I still had no cycle and I still had pain, but it was moderate. I went back to my GP and he tried other prescription drugs, with no effect. I then moved and I have now got a new gynae doctor. She is fantastic and running the necessary tests.
There might be nothing to show, but as many have said, dont let them fob you off without having the right tests to show that there is nothing. Im awaiting more tests and have another appointment soon. My GP and gynae are now working as a team and they have my best interests at heart. They might find nothing wrong with me, although there has to be an answer for the pain and lack of cycle. I kept on pushing for the tests because I know my body, I know what I feel, they dont, to them its just words. If you dont feel right, which you dont, then make sure they do something about it.
Keep us informed, and I hope you get some answers soon!
