im 37 and a mum too daisy 23 months and joseph nine years old. i live in jersey away from my family and have over the months isolated myself, my best friend has gone to australia, ive been treated for depression since joseph was born and things have got worse.. daisy is great and i love her.. but i hate my life we have money problems and have no money, weve recently been evicted and were now in a council house.. i have no motivation, i know what i should do but cant propel myself to do it.. the house is a state and all i want to do is sleep. Because of the children i cant kill myself and i probably dont want to.. but i just wouldn't mind dying..

Hi. I'm really sorry to read your post - I felt very similar to you not that long ago. My name is Kim, mum of 3, dh in RAF - I was moved 200 miles away from friends and family while I was suffering from PND. It's very easy to isolate yourself from everyone around you while you feel the way you do.

Please PM me if you want to talk.xxx

I'm so sorry to hear what you are feeling. I have suffered for depression most of my adult life and I know how tough it can be.

Are you on Anti depressents? Go and see your GP and tell them how you are feeling. Even if you are on them you may need a different one or a higher dose.

Are there any mum and tot groups near by you can take Daisy to? I was quite isolated when I had Eds and really didnt want to do them but now its great for both of us.

We have a buddy system (click the link in my signature) if you want to talk to someone one-on-one who understands what you are going through.

We're here if you need to talk!

aww Hun - I'm so sorry you feel so low and you don't seem to have the support around you which is what you need right now, please go to your GP and if you are already on ad's perhaps you need stronger ones - do you have a partner? if so explain to him how you feel and see if he could help. Ive never suffered from depression but Ive been stuck in a rut and its hard to find a turning point and its hard to break - Hun you will get there and were all here for you anytime, so feel free to contact any of us, its a very friendly site with loads of nice ladies on who will be happy to chat or offer great advice (((hugs))) to you and i hope your feeling better soon luv Jue xxx

Aww hun i'm sooo sorry that you feel this way. Like others have said have you been to see your gp and got some anti d's? Its a shame you have to go through all this ontop of how your feeling i know it doesn't help. Thing is once you start your anti d's maybe you will be able to see forward rather than feeling like your going no where.

You might find our buddy scheme very helpful babe. You can get one to one support off other mummy's that have also gone through this.

We are always here if you need to talk. xxxx

I'm really sorry to read that you are feeling this way. I agree with going to mum & tot groups, for me they are a lifesaver. I have suffered with depression a lot as well and don't really know anyone where I live. We would love to move but can't afford to. I have had to force myself to go out to baby groups, but its well worth it. Keep your chin up babe. Welcome to madmums by the way

x

hi hun,im lauren,mum to 2yr old bronia...

im sorry to hear your feeling so low. there is a new post called "getting outdoors" in the mental health and depression forum which may be of help to you,i would strongly advise you do try and get out, youl be amazed at what a 30min wander can do for you,and as the others have said try find out if theres any tots groups near you, make some friends near by and things will start to seem a whole lot better. as for the money problems,i can totaly relate to that one,and it does make life difficult when you cant do anything coz you have no money...have you contacted your local citezens advice beuraeu, they wer a huge help to us a while back, they will look at your situation and put you in touch with all the right people, organise your incomings and outgoings etc.. and its totally free.

hth xxx

thanks for all your advise im on 30mg of seroxat.. which suits me better than prozac or effexor.. have had others.. have an appointment for gps tomorrow.. my partner is also being treated for depression and help out all he can i dont want to put him under any more pressure and you know what men are like they want to fix everything, when .. he is my best friend and easy to talk too.. i try and get myself out but it seems to take me so long to get us both ready that somedays i have no energy to do it i will be going to jelly club with daisy next week so i am trying but i see no end to it.. have thought about getting a dog as that would motivate me but think that might be a bad idea as were so poor and already have rats and rabbits and chicks.. unfortunatly in jersey you have to pay for the doctors which is at least 30 pounds so i have to find that before tomorrow... had depression so long i dont know what it feels like to feel ok and at 38 i think is this as good as it get? because if it is i dont want this..

I remember feeling like that too, but it does get better, please believe that- I know you'll find it hard to but you can and will get over this and feel normal again.

Tell everything to your doctor, write it all down if you need to.  Perhaps you need something stronger or some councilling to help you through this.  It takes time, and it's one hour at a time sometimes but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

It's terrible that you need to pay for the doctors- is there no way round that?
