Keith and I went to see my GP today to ask a few questions about what happened on saturday.

I asked him why no one would listen to me on saturday and why I was treated like I was just upset about miscarrying.  It was only when I collapsed and passed out cold that they started to take me seriously by which time I had been there for 3hrs.  He told me that sadly he would like to say this is a one off but he can't, exactly the same thing happened to his wife 26yrs ago.  He is going to phone the consultant I was under at the weekend and get us an appointment or the consultant to phone us so we can discuss what happened.  He told me the reason why I passed out is that my body went into shock from loosing too much blood and it shouldn't have happened if I was treated properly.

I also asked if the miscarriages have been caused by the medication I am on for Ulcerative Colitis, he looked up the medication and it shows that negligable amounts cross the placenta so very unlikely for it to be the medication.

I asked how long I should stay off work considering I still feel so ill he said at least 2 weeks and then to see how I feel after that he is happy for me to be off longer if I wish.  I would like to feel well again and back at work so life can get back to normal.  He has made me another appointment to go and see him on the 30th May to make sure I am ok and not getting depressed.

I asked if Keiths and my age is the main problem I am 38 next week and Keith will be 40 later this year.  He said sadly yes that is probably what the main problem is.  Unfortunatley neither of us can get any younger we can only get older so we have 2 choices.  Give up and call it quits or carry on until we have a successful pregnancy which could be next time or might be another 6 times who knows.

I have been quite ill today.  Whilst I was ill in hospital I didn't take my medication for the UC for 2 days. I also have in the past had problems with taking iron tablets.  I think the combination of the two my stomach rebelled today and I have spent the majority of the afternoon in the bathroom sitting on the loo holding a bucket to puke into.  I get all the fun!!

Aww Sam what can i say?

I just hope you do get answers.

On your age though they do say your more likely for a multiple pregnancy. I just hope that if you do keep trying next time will be successful. If anyone deserves it its you and Keith.

Sorry your still feeling so bad with the meds.

I have my fingers crossed for you both. Lets just hope things can get back to normal as soon as poss with all things considering. xxxxx

I was shocked when Flip told us about you collapsing and docs just rushed and took notice then!  I hope you start to feel better now.

I hope also when you go to the appt they give you answers and take on board your complaints/advice.

Hugs, xxx

I am pleased that you are following this on.... in my opinion you have a case against them. They knew you had a multiple pregnancy and they should have known the complications associated with this. At the very least you deserve answers.

Good Luck and take care of all of you.

I'm glad your GP is taking you seriously. At least now you may get some answers.

I really hope you are feeling better soon, physically at least, and that the emotional pain starts to ease.

Take as much time as you need to rest and come to terms with this.

Sending my love and support to you and your family. xxx

As I said in your other post I saw the other side of the NHS through my mum's illness.  Sadly many women in the gyne ward had the same story, they had been ignored until they couldn't be ignored anymore, eg passing out on the wards or similar.

I hope your sickness and pain passes soon and you can get on with making the decisions you need to make.  I wouldn't say 38 is too old, and I know you've been through hell these past months but I hope it doesn't put you off trying for another baby altogether, although, that's a decision for you and Keith.  You've just had such bad luck.  I hope you get more answers from the consultant.
