TMI GROSS POST WARNING, and a tad embarresing.

For anyone who miscarried and/or had an ERPC, was your 1st period afterwards ridiculously heavy? As you may know, I've been bleeding since my ERPC 4 and a half weeks ago, and for 4 weeks before that, but its been a very gradual bleed. It was enough to need a pad, but not like a period. I saw the doctor on Thursday last week, and he thinks I have an infection and since then, the bleeding has got heavier. Today, the flood gates have opened.

I'm sure that its my af, but though I've had heavy periods before, this is worse than normal. Its not constant but when it goes, its like there's an artery down there (sorry, I did warn you).

Will see what happens overnight and may ring the doctors tomorrow, but then I feel a bit daft if it is my period. I'm just a bit surprised as having bled for so long, I didn't think that there would be much to come as it were. Did anyone else experience this?

I think you should go along to get checked out, just to make sure.

Big huggles lady, hope you see the back of all this soon, what a time of
it you've had.

My first 2 af's after my ERPC were very heavy and I had lots of blood clots.  Also very crampy.  Lots of people report heavy periods afterwards unfortunately.  It should settle down in time.

If its that heavu get checked out. No one will think you are daft!

Also make sure you get loads of rest and keep your iron levels up! I get anemic having normally heavy periods so dont be suprised to feel tired and low (more so than normal). It may be worth taking an iron supplement.

Good luck hun, I really home this all settles down soon.

I'm with you on this one.  It will be 6 weeks on Saturday since I had my miscarriage and about a week ago I really started to slow down on the bleeding and I thought that at last I was going to stop. I had been bleeding very heavily for the first week and then about the same as a fairly heavy period.  However, last Friday the flood gates opened and I started bleeding really heavily again (sometimes like a tap had been turned on - sorry).  I was also thinking that maybe I have got my period.  I've read loads of stuff on the net about miscarriages but I'm confused over whether your first period comes 4-6 weeks after the miscarriage or 4-6 weeks after you stop bleeding.

I was also considering contacting my doctor's but had the same thought about feeling an idiot if it's my period.  I suppose a positive thought is that if it is your period the bleedings almost at an end.

I've never experienced this, thankfully, but just wanted to say how brave you all are going through mc! It must be dreadfully hard emotionally, but to have to put up with constant bleeding for weeks must really take it out of you!! Hope you are all better soon, and Dioz, if you are worried I'd pop down to gp's, even if you do feel like a bit daft if it is just af! Hope it sorts itself out soon x

Thanks all for your posts.

I've spoken to my GP and he thinks that it is my af, and from whats been happening today I feel sure that it is. Its heavy, and its horrid but better now than when I'm on holiday! The doc says not to worry unless it gets really heavy, so will see what happens.

Such joy....
