Does anyone know if children still get an 18 month check?  My son is almost 21 months old and I haven't heard anything from my doctor's.  I haven't had a health visitor since he was a couple of weeks old.

Ellie didn't get any checks at all..apart from an 8 week one when she had her first jabs...

she's now 2.  We got a letter saying that they don't do the checks anymore (in Manchester anyway) and if we had any concerns to contact the HV..

I was told by my hv that Rachel would have an 18 month check, she is almost 20 months and I have heard nothing yet. I hate going to my HV because I think she is not very good.

We had an 8 month check with the hv, Rachel is lactose intolerant so we have to go to the gastro clinic every few months so she gets all her checks done there.

I just like to see how much progress she is making, I know I can see it for myself only by looking at her but it makes it offical, if you know what I mean.

Its down the the local authority policy in your area now. I live in Leicestershire, and the health authority here don't do 18 month/2 year checks anymore. I did get a questionnaire from the HV though to see if I had any concerns. That said, I'm sure Jopsy won't mind me saying that Lily had a 2 year check - they live in Devon.

It might be worth checking with your surgery to see if they do them in your area.
