I think Owen was 5 months when he got his first tooth. He was really teething from 4 months biting everything. As I was breastfeeding I hit the roof a few times when he thought he'd have a good chew.

How many teeth are they meant to get in total I think Owen has 16?

Good luck hunni

All  mine started teething at 4 months but didn't get a tooth through til they were about 9 months, winston has now hit 10 1/2 months and still no sign of teething.  I'm actually wondering whether winston may have a problem!

Some babies are actually born with teeth, so it's perfectly possible for teething to start at any age. Chemists over here sell things called bikiepegs, I don't know if you can get them in the states. They're like very hard 'biscuits' (the baby doesn't actually eat them) that they can chew and bite down on to to relieve the pain in their gums. Or you can get teethers with hard plastic tags shaped like petals that fit into their mouths that they can chew. These will all relieve her gums a bit and will be safer for her than chewing on a dummy.

In answer to any early question, believe it is 20 teeth in total for milk teeth. My DD is 32 months now and getting her final back teeth through at the moment.

She too started at 4 months. Two products I used her in the UK were Liquid Anbesol (Not to be confused with the sun tan lotion!) suitable from 4 months and the famous UK teething gel. My DD prefered the former. Sorry I do not know what's available in the US.
