I'm not quite sure what it is!  Winston doesn't get a sore bottom very often, however, over the last few weeks, I have noticed when I clean his bottom after a dirty nappy, the wipes are actually taking off some of his skin.  I have tried diferent wipes etc, including just water and cotton wool but nothing seems to be stopping it.  I use sudocream and I plaster it on when it's at its worst, my problem is while he may well be sore because of it, he may wake during the night after he has had a wee.  I'm at the point of going to the doctors on Monday with him, but I'm not sure there is anything he can do about it.  I use the sudocrem after each nappy change, and it's not like the skin comes off near the front, just at the furthest part of his bottom just inside the crack (sorry tmi).  I'm really worried about this but absolutely stumped as it's only happened since I started giving him his iron medicine.  But I don't think that could be the cause of it!

Might be worth trying a gentler nappy cream.  Sudocrem is great for active nappy rash but is quite a thick cream at any othe time.  Even a bit of vaseline on that area to protect it from wet might just act as a barrier and allow the skin to heal.  If you are worried about it or it is bothering him then it's worth a trip to the dr or nurse for some advice.

Hiya Vix,

Also try leaving him without his nappy on a couple of times a day or as much as possible without ruining your carpets as the air helps to heal up sores better than any cream can!

Hi Vix

I swear by Drapoline, which you can get at Boots.  Its mild and gentle and does the job perfectly.  HTH xxx
