Wen does this come in2 play?Obviously at the start of wening we cant b expected 2 squeeze thats many different fruits & veg in. Im also pressuming los 5 portions would b a smaller quantity than adults? all ads & packages only state how much a portion is not wot age. Hope that makes sense.

I guess from the double post you are desperate to find out! lol

If lo is having something like mashed potatoe, carrots and swede, that would be 3 and as for fruit, juice is a portion, and pureed apple in rice pudding is another!  it's just mixing and matching, however if you make stew for lo, you have how many veggies in that, i have never worried about the guidelines, it's just a case of being sensible, but it's amazing how the government are trying to tell us what to do, when for us older lot it was just standard practise when we were growing up.  I make cottage pie with carrots and swede mashed in with potatoes, and sweetcorn added to the mince, or peas if i'm not eating it, and if you add tomato puree theirs another one, so tahts 5 without the fruit, then you get summer fruits pie filing for doing crumble and custard, and there's at least 3 fruits in that and you have 8 portions in one day.  at one mmeal so what do you do starve them for the other 2!  It's just plain common sense

For Harrison i give him a banana and a glass of apple juice (his fave)with his cereal he has friut with his lunch, he'll then always have either carrots, peas, beans or sweetcorn with his tea then he'll proberly snack on grapes or strawberrys in the day, he's good as he prefers friut to sweets lol

I didnt think about that for Louis but i suppose its when they are having three proper meals a day from about 18months onwards that its when the 5 portions come into play

I wouldn't worry too much, Fred is still on packets, as I'm a lazy cow, and he's been to gripey to sort it out recently.  I'll give it a couple of weeks, and then go get the right stuff in for him, and get started!  But at the end of the day, whatever is comfortable is best!  If you spend your time worrying whether he's getting the right stuff you'll get tense, baby will sense it, and then you have that vicious circle, just enjoy the fact that he is eating, what he eats can come later, so long as he's not putting on too much weight why worry!
