I know theres all the rules about not giving los salt until 1y/o (i think) but as most of u know i dont do cooking from scratch so how harmful will it b 2 Ryan if he eats some of my food b4 hes 1?
Even if i cook him pasta, most sauces hav salt in as well as alot of kiddy foods, surely he cant live on baby tins until then? (not sure i can afford it either)
Obviously i'll learn 2 cook if its the only way but surely there will b time Ryans gonna want wots on my plate
Like 2day he had a bit of the topping off my peperoni pizza (dont think u can get much saltier)

I think the rules are no more salt than is already in foods, like cooking potatoes or pasta etc, do not add salt to the water. In baby food they have to follow strict rules about adding salt. If you are still unsure ask the hv, but I cook from scratch if I'm going to cook for lo, at least you know what goes into the food then.

as vic says i think your not meant to add salts to the food, i do all leo's meals from scratch and this way i know there is no salt in them, i do sometimes give him the odd jar but he eats mainly puree'd fruit of veg.

I will when Louis decides to eat solids cook form scratch all the friut and veg is thrown in the steamer, like Vix said its just about not adding salt when you are cooking like to veg and pasta etc....
You have to be a little more careful when they are older as Harry likes Dairylea lunchables but they have lots of salt, so do all the scooby doo meals, i find myself checking the ingredients alot more when im buying foods for Harry just to be on the safe side

Like everyone else says Lilp you will need to be careful about the amount of salt content in the food you give Ryan even if it's food off your plate. The Co Op have a low salt policy on their food and you can check how much salt it contains. All other supermarkets you will have to look closely at the ingredients list to see how much salt is in a product. A tiny bit probably won't hurt as long as Ryan is drinking plenty of water to wash it out.
Learning to cook really isn't hard and I am sure you can do it. I was 19 when I had Hayley and didn't have a clue and learnt very slowly with trial and error. Some of the things I managed to cook you wouldn't serve to your dog. Cooking fruit and veggies is really easy and very cheap much cheaper than buying jars and only take a few minutes to do. You might even find you enjoy it.

I'm a useless cook Lilp, however as the kids were small when i first started, their tastebuds never worked, as they love my cooking now! Bless 'em, although i did a pilau for the lot of us(except fred) the other day, and thought i'd add cayenne pepper, never heard of it, and liked the sound of it, and i was a tiny bit heavy handed! The kids loved it, but asked me not to make it too spicy next time, but they had empty plates i can't complain! I on the other hand left it when my mouth felt on fire! lol, at least i know what it does now
