I want to thank you all for your support so far on women's right to breastfeed. I hope you are not getting bored with me harping on about this. What I need to decide now is where I go from here.
I have heard back from my MP and I am distinctly unimpressed! His reply simply reads:
I thought I had sent you a generally supportive letter which led me to be somewhat surprised by your response. You seem to believe that legislation is the means to deal with the problem you have described. I accept the problem, but I simply do not think that legislation is the appropriate remedy.
The letter was sent before the article came out in the paper.
So where do I go from here? I am in the process of contacting other people who I know have written to their conservative MPs and got a very similar response. I know the conservative party has backed this far less than any other party so I think thats the line I'm going to take next. Right to the heart of the conservative party. Unfortuantely I live in a constituency where Conservatives are ALWAYS voted in (although not by me).
Any advice on next steps much appreciated! I WILL take this all the way! I feel like having another baby so I can breastfeed it everywhere to make my point heard!
