Ladies....

One of the student midwives who did my antenatal classes is doing a study for her course and asked if I knew any mums who'd had a baby in the last year - only about 300 I said!!!

So if you don't mind, would answer the poll and if you are comfortable, give a bit of detail about which pain relief you used, if it was assisted, what happened etc

Only if you're comfortable with it, if not please do just vote!

As I'm going to print this out and give it to her...

Mine was an emergency c-section as Ella got stuck. I was a failed induction too as my labour couldn't progress as her head was so wedged! I had been in full labour for 2 days, with no pain relief (only because they wouldn't let me!!!)

I had an emergency c section with Eddie.

I had severe spd and was hospitalised for the last week as i was bed bound and on morphine. They tried inducing me with prostoglandin but i needed gas and air just to have it inserted. Then his heart rate started to become irratic due to the morphine and it was decided it was safest for him to be delivered so i had a c section at 37+5 weeks. Eddie was 6lb 14oz.

I got to hospital pushing just didnt have time for anything!! With all three of mine I had naural births. I didn't want any drugs because there were side effects before during and after birth...so I did it drug free!! ...but with lo I ended up having emergency operation after birth due to retained placents and nearly bled to death..

Elective C-Section due to Oliver being in the extended breach position and his head was wedged under my ribs so there was no way of turning him.  I have Scoliosis so my ribs are not alined properly lower on the right handside and the way he wanted to turn was to the right. Ouch!  Once Oliver was born his cord was noted to be short and very thick, possibly the cause of him being breach.

Had 2 natural deliveries with Pethidine for pain relief previously.

i had a natural delievery with an epidural as i was dilating very slow.  I ended up having my waters broke and a drip to speed up labour.  Afetr over 27hrs in labour ellen popped out weighing 7lb 8oz.

grub was 11 days l8, she was served n eviction notice! lol.

eventually she came -contractions started at 4pm-id had her by 9:49pm.

less than 6 hrs from start to finish, and weighed 6lbs

i say it was the raspberry leaf tea! aka ratty leaf toes that helped.

i went into birthing pool-but had to come out as contractions slowed-had her on a birthing stool not long after.

was told i could come home same night but stayed 1 night in hosp to get lily bibi checked over next day.

all in all it was ok, no medication n had dh with me all along, we went to torbay hospital, devon. i had a mw who had just done  her 1000th birth n a brand new one whos first birth was our lily! 

still not something i want to do again!
