Cerys was 2 weeks late.  My waters broke but I had no contractions so ended up going back to the hospital the next day and put onto a drip.

I tried to use my TENS machine but that didn't help with the pain, so I tried gas and air which made me sick so the midwife suggested an epidural, which I wasn't keen on but all the same I was so knackered I admited defeat.

After 15 hours in labour and Cerys only getting to 7 cms dilated they advised that they wanted to do a C-Section.  They said it wasn't classed as an emergency one but they advised me that it was the best course of action because they really didn't believe that Cerys wasn't going to progress any further.

Well it ended up with an emergency C-section because the epidural block they put in before hand went up to my neck and I was having trouble breathing, they were even talking about 'putting a line in' at one point which scared me loads.

Anyway in the end it all turned out OK and I now have my gorgeous little girl.

I hope that's not too much info for your friend... I have a habit of waffling (just in case you hadn't noticed LOL)

I ticked natural no pain relief - I had Ryan at home after a 17 hour labour, didnt tru G&A until 2 hours b4 he was born & i used it mostly afterwards wen i was being stitched cause i hate needles

Id say being at home was the best form of pain relief ever

Travis was due 16th April 2005. Anyway 16th came and went - tried everything hot curries, pineapple my gums bled as i ate about a full pineapple! and ofcourse the main one! No luck.
I started to get niggly pains on the Thursday around 7pm and timed them at about 14 mins apart to then 10 mins apart. I went to bed that night and couldnt sleep. Didn't sleep a wink. I phoned the hospital and they said how sore would u rate the pains 1 - 10 and i was like I duno how bad it is as ive never had a baby before. I was told to go for a bath then bed, so I did. David phoned work the next day to say he wasn't coming in and to start his paternity leave then.
I felt pains all that day too so I got my bag together and sat it at the front door...by around 7pm David phoned as they were stronger. I said ill go after friends, then Ill go after eastenders lol! Was told to wait for AGES and had 2 blood taken saying i didnt have enough iron altho I was on IRON TABLETS!! Anyhoo I was givin some drugs to send me to sleep I spent the night in hosp and slept for 3 hours. I went home in the morning. Bath and bed - couldnt sleep.
This was Saturday. I was in so much pain, I couldnt eat, I was so tired, my stregnth was just at 0. Not slept in 2-3days. In and out hospital again. bath AGAIN!
Went back into hospital at around 3pm, I was dilated 1cm still! It was so sore and I was extremely tired. I was sent to labour ward at that time. at last! everyone was saying so are you here to stay now then?
I watched Saturday night TV with Gas and Air. There was no other girls in the ward at that time. Just David and I, gas and air and sat night tv. I was taking the gas and air well the midwives told me over n over and they switched midwives too i got a lovely nigerian woman and a student who was fantastic it was her 6th birth!
I was planning on a water birth but to be honest I wanted to watch TV more! haha!
I was taken throught to the room. I was dilated 2-3cms.
At 3am Sunday morning Id still only dilated 2-3 cms and they were going to hand me over to the doctors to see what was wrong, had a shot of morphine at this point as I was in so much pain and they kept trying to pressurize me into epidural!!!! I was stern in saying no!I rapidly shot to 7-8-9 then 10 cms in half an hour and had the urge to push.
4.34AM Travis was there. David was in floods of tears the most emotional Ive seen anybody in my life it was so nice! I would go back to that moment if I could again. Couldn't believe he was here, and he was a boy. We both hoped for a boy, but obviously if it was a girl we'd love her as much!
There he was little Travis :-) There was a bond straight away for the 3 of us.
I had no stitches and he weighed 9lbs 8 1/2!!! The midwives were shocked! They were so lovely. xxx

Dilbert was born by elective caesarean.

We were given the option to either be induced at 38w or have a c/s. After months of agonising we choose the c/s. For 2 main reasons:

I had a “natural” birth with DS1 – induction, epidural, forceps, pp haemorrhage. Poor boy was in so much pain afterwards – he cried for weeks and even now has a very strange shaped head from the forceps! Didn’t do me many favours either but I really didn’t want to put a baby through that again if I could.

The other reason was that Dilbert was my 8th pregnancy but only second living child. We didn’t want to take the risk of anything going wrong at the end. Hence the early delivery.

I had an a ventouse delivery, with only g and a. I wnt into hospital at 9.30am and had Hael at 1.03pm, It was a 'quick' labour but Hazels heart rate dropped, hence the assissted delivery, it all happened to quick for an epidural and I'm allergic to pethidine, so I'm not brave just unlucky!

I had an emergency section. Labour was going well although I was in a lot of pain at only 5cm. Then the CTG showed that Hannah was distressed. The obstetrician couldn't get a blood sample from Hannah's scalp as her head was too high, and as I'd had a c-section before it had to be the same again!

I started having contractions on sat 11th about 8pm they were coming about every 6 mins so at about 7 in the morning we went to hospital, i had to wait for dh to sober up as we had got married on the 11th and my dad had got him very drunk!

when we got to the hospital they did a trace and aid i was in the early stages and that i was 3cm! they told me to go home and get somr sleep! and come back later that even when the time was rite!

that evening came and went so did the next week! so we decided to go on the train on the 18th saturday! to dhs mums for the night to see her!

woke up on the 19th at 10am and said to dh i think my waters have broke! he said yes they have!

he told his mum that my waters had broke and to look after me as he was going to the shop for some cigarettes! not speaking very much english she thought he had said tilly wants a glass of water so there was me in full blown labour and his mum trying to hand me a glass of water, wondering wats wrong!

travelling to the hospital via my house to pick up the bags(wouldnt recommend this)got to the hospital at 12.30pm,

had g&a but this made me feel sick and dizzy, so had pethidine svannah was born after a few unwanted pushes(i was scared!) at 3.15pm

weighing in at 8lb 12oz, on december 19th 2004!

had three tears but no stitches v. painful when u need a wee!

the mws said svannah was the most relaxed baby they had ever seen as she never cried in the hospital not even when she was born she looked at me!

all changed when we got home the next day though!!

sorry long story!
