Taylor was one week to the day early...

my waters broke at 3am, just as i was going to sleep, i heard this tiny pop, thought "what was that" then gush!! water everywhere, i hadn't seen taylors dad move so fast, i waddled to the bathroom while he rang the hospital to let them know, he handed me the phone so i could chat with the midwife, she asked if i was in any pain which i wasn't, then said have a shower and relax, the first baby could take hours to come along, and to come to the hospital when im in pain. As soon as i hung the phone up my first contraction hit.... ouch!!! within the hour i was having 2 contractions at a time within the space of 2 mins, so i thought it would be best to get to the hospital!!! thank god the roads are clear at 3am!! it was a 14 mile drive to the hospital!!!

once i got there and was checked over, i was only 1cm dialated, i was told its going to be a long night!!! i ran a bath and stayed in that for about an hour, hoping the water would help the pain, no such luck, and the worst bit was getting out, gravity hit and i couldnt move, it took me about ten mins to get out!!!

when i went back in to the delivery room i was given the gas and air tube, i managed to last on that for a while.. a midwife then told me i WAS going to have diamorphine as she could hear me screaming right down the other side of the maternity wing!!!! what can i say, i scream when im in pain!!!  luckily for me, within 4 hours of arriving there i was pushing, and 2 hours later taylor popped out!!!

i had the classic "by the book" labour, nothing went wrong thank god... and to this day, i swear i saw tiny elves dancing at the end of my bed!!!!

Lil Sumo didn't want to come out!  In the end he was forced out into the big, bad world with the help of postagladin gel (sp?) arriving 11 days late!

Went to 4cm dilation until the mw would put me on the delivery ward and then my husband and I took it in turns gulping gas and air.  Had a shot of pethidine and Lil Sumo aka Tom arrived quite leisurely 7 hours and 45 minutes later.

He weighed a whopping 9lb and 6oz!

My eldest son arrived 10 days late and  I had to be induced and followed the same labour as my youngest.

Hope this helps.  Good luck with your studies!
