Taylor was one week to the day early...
my waters broke at 3am, just as i was going to sleep, i heard this tiny pop, thought "what was that" then gush!! water everywhere, i hadn't seen taylors dad move so fast, i waddled to the bathroom while he rang the hospital to let them know, he handed me the phone so i could chat with the midwife, she asked if i was in any pain which i wasn't, then said have a shower and relax, the first baby could take hours to come along, and to come to the hospital when im in pain. As soon as i hung the phone up my first contraction hit.... ouch!!! within the hour i was having 2 contractions at a time within the space of 2 mins, so i thought it would be best to get to the hospital!!! thank god the roads are clear at 3am!! it was a 14 mile drive to the hospital!!!
once i got there and was checked over, i was only 1cm dialated, i was told its going to be a long night!!! i ran a bath and stayed in that for about an hour, hoping the water would help the pain, no such luck, and the worst bit was getting out, gravity hit and i couldnt move, it took me about ten mins to get out!!!
when i went back in to the delivery room i was given the gas and air tube, i managed to last on that for a while.. a midwife then told me i WAS going to have diamorphine as she could hear me screaming right down the other side of the maternity wing!!!! what can i say, i scream when im in pain!!! luckily for me, within 4 hours of arriving there i was pushing, and 2 hours later taylor popped out!!!
i had the classic "by the book" labour, nothing went wrong thank god... and to this day, i swear i saw tiny elves dancing at the end of my bed!!!!
