Hi ladies..especially tobe mums. i wanted to share with you the news i recieved today from a nursing classmate. she was 38 weeks pregnant and came in for her weekly check. no dilation and cervix is still thick at this time. she asked the doctor, i havent felt my baby move all day and he usually moves a few times per hour or atleast every hour or so...( usually up to 10 times a day) whatever your baby normally runs..should be monitored and be consisitent with slight decrease towards the last weeks of pg. well, doctor says it was normal for the baby not be moving as much...my mate said ok with that. she had the heart beat monitor at home, babys heartbeat stayed consistent 120-130 so mate did not check her in the hospital to run a strip and monitor. the next day, she came in the hospital for contractions that eventually was consistent to 15 minutes apart...and the monitor shows (regular heart rate...with no decelaration and increase in heart beat...for normal babies ladies...they're heart beat goes up and down depending their activites..your activities and many with the contractions..my mates baby laid still through it all. She was rushed to have and emergency c section and baby was covered with  meconium. meconium is the babys first stool..black and sticky as you know. the baby certainly pood a good amount while in the womb because of high levels of stress. their chance to survive is slim once aspirated. he was on ventilator for 5 days and could not breath on his own..they let him go with his wings to the sky above...

......................bottom line>>>> please, listen to your bodies..not aloowing anyone person, especially just one opinion make your decision to go in and get checked..it can save your baby's life

Lina Im really sorry to hear this news, and my hearts goes out to your friend my her baby be at peace with the angels!

When my waters went with Joshua they were thick and black, he had gone into distress and too had meconium in the sac. I was put on the drip for an emergancy induction, luckily Joshua had not swollowed any and although he was covered in it, he was healthy.

I do agree though, listen to your own instinct, if you trust yourself it wont fail you!

I agree completely too.
When Mia was still born, she had too obviously been in distress at some point and had muconium in her waters.
If the doctors had listened to me with what i was telling them, she would still be here with me now.
