Has anyone been sterilised at the same time as having a c-section? I was going to ask to get this done, but a friend of mine, said her work collegue got sterilised when she got her last c-section, and she felt really unwell.

I have had two c-sections already and wouldn't really want to be adding to my pain any more.

Could anyone with any experience on this please let me know what they think. Thanks

I've not been through this but if I require a section this time for any reason I am going to request it.  I think vix had this done after her last bubs.

My sister had a sterilisation after a section...she requested it...BUT they did it on medical reasons as her uterus ( I think ) was so thin that it was dangerous for her to have any more children. That was her 3rd section.

She noticed no difference...although she said her first couple of periods were very heavy

Thanks ladies.

As long as it doesn't increase my recovery time then I am going ahead with it. This would be my 3rd section and I think doctors recommend that women have no more than 3 pregnancies, if they need sections.

Dh has said he would get the snip, but since I am gettting cut open anyway, then as well to go the whole hog.

Makes absolutely no difference to your recovery time at all! lol  They much prefer not to do it at the same time, as there is a 1 in 200 chance of conceiving again (or thats what they told me) but I was absolutely adamant and as I'd already got 5 healthy ones.  They have to make sure you understand that if something goes wrong ie cot death etc that it won't be reversed etc etc if you need any other help be sure to pm me!  I had it with my last one, and in all honesty I haven't looked back.  Although if I had no problems with either pg or labour, I would probably have gone on to have more, but mentally, financially and all the hiccups I have had over the last 16 yrs and 7 pgs I am relieved that I had it done.

Hiya,

I was thinking of being steralised after the birth of my last lo if id had a c-section, but was told to wait 3 months after delivery as id had a normal delivery for all your inside bits and pieces to go back to normal as Vix said, there is a slight chance of it not working.
Just make sure its what you really want, as something like that can not be reversed if you change your mind in the future.
