Lol mumsam, wondered what the real name was! We have always called it magic cream.
Well we got there for 10am, then they decided that they would use the 'magic' cream on Fred, so they put that on, and we had to go away for an hour waiting for it to work! However when we got back little Fred was an angel, no problems whatsoever! Even the nurse couldn't get over how good he was, he didn't flinch at all! Winston on the other hand was an absolute nightmare. She tried to use the vein in his left hand, that didn't work, he had no visible vein on his right one, nor his left arm, so next they tried his right arm! 10 minutes later still not a drop of blood! pmsl In the end they decided he had to have the blood taken from his foot! He was already squawking by this time, so out came the buttons (they were supposed to be for Fred), by the time we had emptied the pack (well mommy needed one for watching the nasty doctor) they had just about managed to get the right amount of blood out! Poor little mite!
Now I have been in touch with the hospital but not all the results are back! However Winston's platelets are at an all time low for him! Very near to the 400 they are supposed to be they came in at 433! So as you can imagine I am well chuffed with that, both boys iron levels look ok at the hgb level, but we are awaiting the ferritin level to find out about any anaemia!
