Well I have an update from both Fred's and Winston's consultants, although it has left me puzzled, confused, and with more questions about both of them than answers!

The normal range apparently (or so Winstons consultant says) is between 15 and 200 whatever for ferritins, and the last test he had Tiny's were at 14.3, very low so he was diagnosed as having anaemia, and put on iron medication and has been on that since the middle of April.  This last test showed that his ferritins have gone up VERY slightly to 19.7!  So although a move in the right direction he will stay on the medication!  However I get to discuss the results and the umpteen questions that have popped into my head tomorrow at his clinic appointment!

Now Fred's consultant on the other hand said he's not anaemic anymore (i hadn't even been told that he was, he was only being tested because the doc was concerned about his colour etc) however his ferritin level was at 13.6 even lower than Winstons was the first time round! But I was informed that Fred's consultant is going to be writing to me.  Not that I'm not impressed with that, it's just in all my dealings with this hospital, not once has the consultant ever written directly to me.  I've waited til the enxt appointment or been in touch with my own gp about any results, so I am now curious as to why she would be wanting to write to me in person! lol

So as you see a little confused, but never mind!

Don't you just love the NHS?

I know they're under staffed and under funded and everything, but there must be an easier way than this?

Still, at least you have clinic tomorrow with Winston. Would they be able to answer any of your questions about Fred or do you just have to wait for this mysterious letter to arrive?

Really strange. Thought it would be easier and quicker for the consultant to ring you and then you can also ask any questions at the same time you have about Fred rather than waiting for ever for a letter , there again I expect you would have to wait forever for a phone call. Hope you can managed to get some answers to your questions tomorrow.

Glad it went wellish and you have some results.  Hope you get the answers to the questions tomorrow.  You need to be a Haematologist to know all of that stuff.
