I have a really itchy belly. It feels like its under my skin so no matter how much I scratch it wont go away. Its near my belly button. I know itchyness can be a symtom of a serious illness in pregnancy but it could just be my skin streching.
I am going to the midwife on Thursday so I will ask her see what she says, its just a bit worrying. I cant remember having this when I was pregnant with Leah.

I remember itching a fair bit while pregnany with Molly but it was more towards the end of my pregnancy and was from my belly stretching and feeling so hot, i would mention it to your h/v and see what she says im sure all will be fine though xx Jue xx

It probably is your skin stretching. After Leah your belly will have shrunk back and you will probably have stretch marks (even if only mild) it is probably this sensitive skin restretching that is causing you to itch. Its worth mentioning it to the midwife just in case. Try using a gentle moisturiser to make the skin more supple as this might ease the itching.
I did a quick search online and the more serious itching (PUPPP) normally doesnt occur until the 3rd trimester and is accompanied by a hive like rash. The more serious condition also has a rash so I wouldnt worry if there is no rash.

I had bad itching on my tum and legs and feet from very early in this pregnancy, I went to see my doctor about it andhe said it was alot of dry skin (even though it was smooth) and stretching of the skin. He prescribed me some aqueous cream (a big pot of it) and I applied it twice a day as a moisturiser and it can be used as a soap suppliment. Matbe it'll be worth a try, it helped me instantly and now I'm 8 months I'm still using it.

Jen thats the cream i got given too - as just remembering now i itched all over even after having molly it worked for me as it did for my sister who also used it, jue xx
