thanks for the advice - I will try those methods to help pass the wind and hopefully if she can get it out she'll settle quicker but am hoping to stop her doing it at all at that time in the morning lol

3small - eds did that but at home one morning in the early hours. It was about 4.30am and I was changing his nappy before putting him back to bed. When I lifted his legs to put the nappy on poo shot straight out and covered the floor in a line for about 1.5meters! I was scrubbing it for an hour whilst eds and dp slept soundly! Not impressed!

Good luck greedy!

Greedy I wish I had some words of wisdom for you but unfortunately I don't as I gave up bf after 5 days...could't cope.

I am going to ask something really stupid.....Is there lactose in human milk ? the only reason why I ask is because Rachel was and still is lactose intolerant. She never showed severe symptoms only she was very very unsettled and windy all the time.

I met another mum at a mum and tots group once who told me I would not have been able to bf any way as there is lactose in human milk (is it not easier to break down that the lactose in formula ??) I think MumSam might know more about this than I do.

If there is lactose in breast milk it might be worth having her tested....all it is is a stoll sample test.

Martha, there is lactose in breast milk and even if a child is lactose intollerent, you can still breastfeed with the right help. There are products on the market that help to break down the lactose, colief being one of them which although is a faff with breastfeeding, it is possible. The lactose in breastmilk is much easier to digest than formula too.

Hope that Hannah breaks this one soon Greeds. Massive Hugs. xxxxx

thanks martha but I don't think hannah is lactose intolerant...she is only very unsettled at this time of the day and I think it is partly a build up of the night feeds with no burps..also I gave her colief for 3 days and saw no improvement at all..

well, I don't know if it is a fluke (she's full of a cold and sleeping loads anyway) but I followed lynie's advice yesterday and made her go longer between feeds in the day and then started her off on the boob she finished on last time and lo and behold, she only woke at 10.45pm and then 3.30am for a feed - she did not thrash about at 4.30am (she has been doing this for weeks), she only started to get unsettled about 6am but I gave her her dummy a few times and she slept until after 7am - this is a MASSIVE improvement to what has been happening of late and I feel fab today....

don't know if it was a one-off and we've not started today off great as we have been out and about so a bit unsettled but am curious to see what happens tonight..!
