Ella's not too well at the moment as she has an ear infection. She's been given Erythromycin (anti-biotic) for it and although her temperature is still high, its better than it was, but I think its giving her a tummy ache.

I can't have erythromycin as I get horrendous stomach cramps and that is one of the listed possible side effects. She's had it before and been ok but this time, she keeps having spells of crying and crying, drawing her legs up and then farting for Britain. TMI warning - her poo's are the normal radioactive anti-biotic type and she's doing more off them, but it does seem to bother her to do them. Bearing in mind how sloppy they are, I don't think shes straining for them.

I've tried giving her tummy a rub, but shes not interested at all. She's not eating a great deal, which I'm sure isn't helping. Any ideas?

How about a warm bath to help relax her muscles with a drop of lavender oil.

Also try giving her a warm water bottle to rest on her tummy!  It's amazing how much better you can feel after a while with somple treatments.  Hope it all eases off for her soon!  Huge gentle hugs off Fred and Winston xxxx

I don't know if it is an olds wives tale... but a wee dash of peppermint water in some water can help break up wind to make it more comfortable. It has always helped with my lot.

Get better soon little lady

When mine have stomach ache, i usually give them a warm bath and stick on comfortable clothes or pyjama's.

We have a wheat bag bear which i usually give them to cuddle.

Its hard at this age as they cant tell us exactly whats wrong.  So we feel helpless.  I hope she is feeling much better this morning and if she is no different tomorrow go back to the gp and maybe discuss changing her antibiotics if she still has a while left on them.  Make sure you mention it to them next time she is perscribed anti biotics as it maybe that she reacts the way you do to the particular one.

Very good point Sunny, thank you! I have peppermint capsuals to take if I get IBS. I've not got any peppermint water, so will dispatch DH!

She's not to great today, although a bit better than yesterday. She slept in bed with me last night and kept waking up, moaning then farting so I think her guts were playing up but then today, she's had 2 lots of her antibiotics and hasn't minded once. Mmmm very odd.

Now her temp has come down a bit, will let her have the warm wheat cushion too. Good plan!

Dizie, Joshua has an allergy to pencillin and is intolerant of some other medicines, including tentnus. However when he had his preschool booster he was really unwell and reacted bad to the injection. His dad has an allergy to tetnus which the nurse was well aware of, when I took him back she said because he was having such small doses he didnt react straight away, and it was building up in his system.

It may be that this anti biotic is building up in Ella's system in much the same way. Joshua's penacillin allergy started as intolerance of Flucoxocillin, and then after a few months he reacted to amoxocillin and they said that was also due to a build up in his system.

I'd take her back to the doctors, explain her symptoms, and those that you have with the same medicine. It might be that she needs it changing, and she should avoid that medicine and ingrediant in future.

I hope she is feeling better xxxxxxx
