Poor Eds has a blister on the side of his foot. His shoes (which dp put on too loose) have rubbed a blister the size of a 10p and the skin has come off making it really tender.

Also because I took the shoes off when I noticed and we were out all day he now has a splinter in the base of his foot (i think). He wont really let me look at either of them, I managed to wipe both with an antiseptic wipe and spray savlon spray on them but I dont know what to do for the best. Hes had nothing on his feet today and is limping slightly and complaining its sore.

I know he doesn't want you to do it, but I'd recommend that you do!  If he has a splinter, it will need to be removed, otherwise it will go bad and be even more painful!  Not sure what to so with blisters I usually just leave them and hope theyget better quickly!

Should I try and dig it out or try and put a plaster with cream on and draw it out? I dont want to make it worse for him.

Louis got a splinter in his foot when we were on holiday, I waited for him to go to sleep then encouraged it out with a sterile set of tweezers.  You have to be careful not to poke too far down, but it's better to get it out

The spray savlon should be helping too, aww bless his little feet!

Madz, if you put a plaster with some antiseptic cream on it first, it will soften the skin around the splinter and hopefully make it easier and a little less painfull to remove.
But i suggest you try and get it out too!

Well after examining it this afternoon I am not 100% sure there in anything in there, it may just be a cut. I have cleaned it with an antiseptic wipe and have been spraying savlon spray all over it all day. I'll keep an eye on it and take him to the nurse if I need to but I dont want to go poking about in it if there is nothing there. It seems clean and isnt red or inflamed.

The blister is still looking sore and he gets quite upset if I ask to see it. I have sprayed savlon all over it before bed again but he does seem to have stopped limping for the time being and isnt bothered unless I mention it or touch it. I've left him bare footed today and will do until I have to to give it time to heal.

Thanks all!

madz,if the blister pops or the skin comes off there are special burns plasters you can get which are just like cling film and holds the liquid to the sore which will heal it,they stay on for ages, normally untill you remove it by wich time it has healed and the skin is just soft underneath, they work a treat, you can get these from boots, you can get cheap ones too but id go for the expensive ones theyre better quality and will do the job better and make eds more comfy! hth xxxx

You can also get special blister plasters which stay on for ages to and are really good. I use them when I get blisters from time to time. They cushion the area too and make it less painful to walk on. Hope he's feeling better soon, bless!

Yeah I agree with the blister plasters, they are great when you've got new shoes!

I think they'd work for Eds as they cushion the blister and it doesn't rub when you have shoes on.
