Hi i had a operation 4 years ago in March on my hip. It was due to me having hip dysplacia. This is down to my pelvis not developing properly so my hips do not sit right in the sockets. This means my bones rub against each other and cause me alot of pain. This is the first time i have gone into detail and actually talked about this so please be gentle lol. I went to the hospital when i was 21 (i'm 26 now) and had exray's which confirmed my condition. They told me my right hip was much worse than my left. I only had 7 percent movement in my right and 12 percent in my left. You have 15 percent either side. They told me the best thing for me was a triple pelvic osteotomy. This is my pelvis is broken in 3 places and then my hip is put back in its right place then pinned. I had a rough time in the hospital as i needed a blood transfusion and couldn't move for a week. Then i had to learn to walk again with physio everyday for about 7 months. It was very hard i had a wheelchair which i was supposed to use for 6 weeks but gave up after 3 times as people are so ignorant. I used my crutches and eventually walking sticks for months. Well i eventually went back to work but knew it was too soon. I had sciatica, which is my nerve down the back of my leg trapped and very painful. This is still like it but not as bad. I then fell pregnant with twin girls after a year. I expected loads of problems but it seemed to help me. As my bones softened my pain became easier. I was even recommended for a pelvic support but i felt better than i had for years lol. Then after i had the girls it all came back. It was never really noticeable as i learned to live with the pain but gradually over the years it is getting worse again.

This saturday I was putting Jamie-leigh on the toilet and as i bent doen i heard it crunch and grind. I can't describe the pain but i struggled to get back up. It has over the years gradually got worse but i thought my left hip was ready to go. This is only painful because its over compensating for my right. This has settled since i have finished work but my right hip has flared up terrible the last couple of months. I feel awful for moaning as i know alot of you ladies have spd but i can only say i sympathise with you all.

I noticed yesterday that i had fluid in my leg also and my knee was very painful. I have put this down to it crunching on saturday. I was in awful pain yesterday that i even took painkillers which i never do lol. Thing is when i had this op my consultant told me he had done 30 odd. He said he had only ever had to re-do one op due to part of the bone not healing. Mine is the second for not healing. (trust me). Anyway over the years it has gradually healed on its own which i am glad about as i didn't want another op. But i feel worse for having the operation. I have now started a diary of all my pain so they know exactly what i have been through.

If you have managed to get this far without getting bored then thankyou and sorry its so long! I would go into more detail but you would be here for a week reading this lol.

Em I sat with you tonight, and i know how hard it was for you to post that. Never ever feel you cant open up, or express how you are feeling. Writing it all down is a great way to help yourself, bottling it up wont help. It is clearly getting you down, and although I know you dont want surgery, and hate your pills, i still think you should go back to the doctors. maybe they can suggest alternative therapy, acupuncture is meant to be great! maybe they can get you into a pain clinic and help you learn to help yourself and tolerate it. Please asay you wioll go see what they say at least xxxx

Em,

I agree with Chris well done for posting this as I know it was very hard for you. I can't imagine what kind of pain you are in and managing to cope with.

I hope writing this post has helped you release and admit your fears. I think you should go to the docs/hosp for them to reassess you. I would definately try accupuncture it can't be any worse painwise than your in. My friend had it for her SPD and it definately helped.

It was lovely to chat to you tonight! Please make an appointment as soon as or as Chris and I said we'll come and take you tee hee xx

Oh Em! how awful for you! You shoul go back to see someone, even though you don't want to. You shouldn't have to live with this pain! I hope you find the strength to go to the cons, and that they can offer you something to help. Big painfree hugs to you

Please go and ask about acupuncture - I'm AliBali's friend who swears by it for helping SPD - some people are sceptical about it all, but it definitely gave me some relief. Hope you manage to find something to help quickly.xxx

Hey chica.

My niece has the same condition as you.  She was flown back from cyprus last year to birmingham childrens hospital to have her hips pinned into place.  She was only 10, so not old enough to have her pelvis broken and then re-done.

She will and was told that she will have a second operation (as norm for condition) before she is 20.

I would say go see your GP about it chica..it may be that you need the second op to reset the pins (not your pelvis), as your pelvis will have changed since having the girls which kind of sends things a bit wonky.  Please go get it checked I hate to think of you in so much pain.

I was born with clicky hips, and after 18mnths of old style terry double nappying I was given the all clear...however after having both my girls I can pop my hip out (I know gross) at the slightest thing.  Usually happens erm in the erm 'heat of the moment' which is a bit (ok very) annoying.

Hi Steph i was told because of my age and because i'm not growing anymore i would only need the one op. I had my pins removed after a few months of having the op because they were causing me pain when i banged them. The stuck out and you could see them. This was because i was really poorly after the op and the tablets made me sick. I lost so much weight that my bones stuck out i looked awful. So i had no fat to protect me lol.

I will go back i'm just going to wait and see if it settles after what happened on Saturday. If it doesn't then i will be at the docs first thing next week. I just don't want to go down this road again. I will push for accupunture aswell. Thanks ladies i knew i could count on you. xxx
