Blimey Emma, how awful. I don't really have any pearls of wisdom to add to the good advice you've already been given here, but I certainly agree with it all. You should definitely go back to the GP. Does yours offer a pain management clinic? Our surgery does this (I've never been, but there's a poster in the waiting room, where I've spent a LOT of time...) which is an open clinic to discuss different forms of pain management for people with conditions like yours, it's not just drugs that they can give you. I hope that you get some joy from your doc, and are feeling better soon. I really admire you for coping with this in 'silence' for so long. It must be so hard with the girls, I know I found trying to keep up with Noah and Ethan a nightmare when I had spd while pregnant with Joe. No-one thinks you're moaning. You have every right to be upset about this, and we all just really feel for you, because we know what that kind of pain is like. Take care, and gentle hugs, coming your way. Love Rachel x

oh love, you are clearly one strong individual to got hrough all of that and still be mum to your girls.

never feel that you cannot post and share with us, although there are things to personal to share. i hope that you feel supported and not so on your own.

i don't think that i can offer any help other than to say i have had acupuncture a number of times in the past for pain management and it does work. sadly it wasn't sustained but it gave amazing relief for some time. i would give it a go, you have nothing to lose.

i have spd, although my baby is 12 weeks old i'm still suffering. in fact i locked up last night with the baby on the bed and the 6 yr old in the bath.  i understand that there is no warning when these things happen. that is both scary and hard to deal with. as a mum you end up coping and getting through the day but make sure that you do what you need to do to make sure you are okay. if we are okay then so will everyone else be.

when i was in hospital i ended up being managed by the pain team and that helped, so go and get an urgent referral. you could be seen by the acute pain service. also consider trying a tens machine where you can get them on hire or from physio dept.

you know where we are and remember you are not alone.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I am going back to the docs tomorrow as i have had awful pain this weekend. I have also started this weekend which i feel has had a lot to do with it. It seems to get worse around that time of the month but i can't afford to go a week or over with swelling and pain like i have. I have tried the tens machine but the pain is deep in my hip joint so its not reachable from a tens. Thing is it goes from one extreme to another and i don't know wether i am coming or going. I definatley need something doing. So i will let you know what happens as and when.

Oh Em I am so sorry I missed this! It must have been so hard for you to write but I hope you are glad you did. Its what we are here for and you can talk to us about anything.

I understand some of what you have been through. I had, as you know, bad SPD which left me in a wheelchair. I was in constant pain with clicking hips etc. I hated the wheelchair - even the crutches were awful - but I had an end in sight.

That didnt happen, I still suffer now, although not as bad and I know how it feels to be in constant pain, how hard it is to not be able to do the things you want to.

I have a few ideas for you which helped me.

Acupuncture is a great one and really helped me, you can get it on the NHS but be warned they have huge waiting lists.
My Chiropractor has changed my life. She wasnt cheap but I swear I am a different, happier person for seeing her. I thoroughly recommend it.
Look into Prolotherapy. This is injections into the joint which are painful but help fix the pain. Its complicated and not many people understand it and even fewer do it. I have found someone who says he can help me - I'm still not sure but I'm looking into it.

I hope something can be done for you. I'm here if you even want to talk.

Hi Madz hunny thanks for that. I went back to the docs last Thursday and he offered me more pyshio which i refused as i know its bones that are crumbling. Its nothing to do with muscles this time. I have been offered accupuncture before but it never came to that also i know about the injections. We call them Quarter zones i think. A few ppl have had these in my family through different reasons. I'm not going to decide anything until i have been back to the hospital. I have been refered back so now i need to wait for an appointment. I was in total agony again last night after going to the bike racers. Mind you it was well worth it hehe. Just hope there is something they can do as i can't carry on like this its ridicoulous. xxxx
