Just when you think you're getting sussed on all the different complaints the kids give you something new crops up and I have no answers.  Chloe is 9 in a few weeks and for the past 3 days has been complaining her pubic bone is sore.  I've no idea what it is but wondered if it could be the start of growing pains.  She's showed signs of developing for a while now and every month we get a really grumpy girl for a few days.  Is my little girl starting to develop into a young lady?

Hi Jen  im no expert as one im not a professinol and i yet have no kids but after reading this thread i remembered myself at that age well i was about 11 when a few days every may i got cronic stomache pain and had to have time off school. This happened two years running and low and behold when i was 13 and may came round i got my period not sure if the 2 were connected but felt like i was getting a warning or something.

Not sure if i have been of any help i hope so and you are possibliy right if its a few days once a month could be the hormones getting her ready so to speak.

Haven't come across this with either of my girls...as yet! Becca used to complain of pains in her legs, which the doctor put down to growing pains - I assume you could suffer the same with your pubic bone?? She hasn't bumped herself? Maybe a bit bruised?  If it lasts for any time, I would probably take her to doctor just to check.xxx

I have asked if she's banged herself anywhere but she cant remember doing so.  She describes the pains like an ache rather than being a sharp pain.  I remember getting growing pains in my boobs but not in the pelvic area, though I was a reasonably late developer.  Chloe is very much like my youngest sister who developed from a very young age.  I forget they are growing up sometimes and forget about things like this.

jen,is the aching at the front of her pubic bone or is it underneath inbetween her legs?? i ask because when i was preg with bronia i had a similar feeling of aching around my pubic bone and bits,i never went to the docs and just wondered if it was to do with the pregnancy but have even had it since but not as bad or as often...it helped to use a thick pad which put pressure on it and relived it,it did come and go and as i say i never found out what it was or anything and im certain it was nothing relating to the preg so it may be worth asking about...

sorry thats all i can think of xxx

I do remember growing pains.  I remember sore booby sproutings from the age of about 9ish.  Really horrible mood swings and pain in hips and pelvic area.  Bits and bobs will be moving about and changing shape chica.  It is liable to be painful, and puberty is now coming lower in age now.  My mates little girl, well shes only 10 and started her periods a little while ago.  So sounds to me like its deffo 'young lady' growing times.  If at all concerned go see the gp chica...failing that feed her ryvita every few hours to knock the mood swings on the head..and stock up on oil of evening primrose to help with growing pains and mood swings
