I just don't know what to do! We're were doing so well with potty training and I was so proud of Ben. He's been nappyless in the house and doing both wees and poos on the potty. But yesturday he wouldn't poo on his potty and today he sems reluctant again! He's pacing around the room as we speak, and has just poohed himself twice whilst walking around! He has also done a really big wee right in front o me on the rug!

The potty is right here in the room where it always is, so its not that he has to go far to get to it and can't make it in time. I've tried putting him on the potty but he has done ery little actually on the potty today. Usually he's been doing about 12 wees and two or three poos every day on his poty and today he's only done 5 wees. I can't think of anything that we've done differently this week. We're still at home, not away, still going to all the usual groups ect.

He still wears a nappy when we're out and about, and won't tell me when he needs to go, just uses his nappy. I've ordered some training pants but they won't be here for a day or two. And I'm dreading him being in them if he's just going to mess them all the time! He's not constipated so his poo's soft (tmi).

I just don't know whats happened to make him do this! Its really upset me! Any advice gratefully received!

dont get upset or bothered by it infront of him, just say "oh dear never mind" dont get stressed at all or he will get more upset and reluctant to do it....just make him feel that is was just an accident and that he can try do it on the potty next time....dont make a big deal of it,honestly, they all go through fases of accidents n stuff,so long as you dont dwell on it he will get bk to it in a couple of days! good luck, just grit yr teeth xxx

lol Jopsy!! I remember seeing our friends wee boy poo in his dad's hand! Mass hilarity for the rest of us - not quite so amusing for him! He did get a round of applause for a good catch though!

Bensmum - Cameron had a couple of stages like this - where it felt that he was going back to square one. It was really frustrating, as I knew he could do it , but just wasn't. Each time it was just for a wee while. Then he just suddenly was toilet trained.

Don't worry - he'll get up one morning and start using the potty again, like it has never happened. I don't know if it's true, but lots of people said to me that wee boys are lazier and can take longer training. I certainly found that with Cameron - both my girls were right into pants, with hardly an accident between them. They're all different though.

Good luck - it's a hard stage - hope Ben gets the hang of it all soon.xxx

we have days like that with ellie, I think it's perfectly normal tbh..it must be a big shock for them to suddenly remember to use the potty!

lolol @ jopsy catching poo in hand, I've done that too lol

I'm sure he'll be just fine..we bit the bullet too and have not used nappies or pull-ups when we go out, we use them for naps and bedtime only..

good luck!

Thanks everyone. He did do two more small wees on potty this evening, but did a big pooh in his nappy when we went for a walk, and one in his nappy while he ate his tea.

Tomorrow's another day, as they say, so we'll just try and start again then.

agagagaghhhhh bedtime has gone to pot here since potty training too!

ellie has finally done a poo after 5 days, but did one in her bedtime nappy tonight and I've just been up and checked on her - there was a pooey nappy on her floor - it was all over the carpet, bed, her bum, hands, teddy..you name it!  just spent half an hour cleaning it all up and teddy is in the dryer now...ewwww

wow, well done lily, keeping dry till morning...thats fab!!  ellie is nowhere near ready at night, her nappy is huge in the morning altho she does sometimes wake in the night and ask for her potty..grrrrr bloomin stoopid potty training lol
