I know that viral infections often leave a rash on the body, but Joshua has one that I dont recall ever seeing on him before. Its a raised red rash, looks a little bit like prickly heat, or when you sting on a nettle, he cant have either of those. It covers his trunk, and a bit on his chest and in his underpant area, he has a slight bit on his legs, but none on his arm. He doesnt feel warm, and although he is saying he doesnt feel well, I think thats just for my benefit having spotted this rash.

Ive tied taking a photo but the lights arent showing it to an extent that it is, it just looks like a red blemish. To feel it is is raised, he doesnt seem to be scratching at it.

Does it sound like a viral rash?

I would contact nhs direct and explain to them what its like, they have more dealings in the different kind of rashes, it does sound like a heat rash/viral rash..

Hope hes ok soon i hate it when my kids get a rash you never know what they are nowadays..

This is excatly how ds became ill for 24 hours, it started with a rash that you are describing and, then he became sick quite quick and was vomiting for 24 hours and then his temp went up really high, which made the spots really red and then after a night of being ill he was virtually back to normal with 48 hours, only thing is that dd caught it next and so have i, if it is this virus, it hurts alot more if your an adult, it mimicks the signs on menigitis. Well the rash seemed to disappear. Trudi took a look at it last night and she was the same as me, said it looked really weird and was certainly raised and lumpy. he ate all his dinner, plus half of mine and other things. he played happily, developed no other symptoms. he didnt sleep great so I settle him with calpol wondering if a bug might be starting but he's woke up fine, and the rash is visable but looks more like a shadow than a rash. Its as if he painted the rash on and washed it off leaving a slight mark where it was, its weird, but he seems fine.

Thanks guys!

Glad he seems to be over whatever it was! Sounds as if it could've been viral. Hope he's 100% soon
