i was sterlised after having bailey, took us 5 weeks after his birth before we did the deed.. never really finished af from after he was born, stopped for a day or so, but then had sex and it started again.. for the last 2 days ive been getting sore boobs (put it down to breastfeeding)
metalic taste in my mouth.. and i just generally feel weird..

i know sterlisation is a very strong way of contraception but could it have failed.. and when do you girls think i should test.. its been about 11 days or so since we had sex, is it my imagination or do you think theres a small possibility im pregnant

I think that perhaps your hormones will still be all over the place and the chances you are pregnant are pretty slim if you've had a sterilisation. Saying that there still could be a teeny tiny chance. I don't think it would harm you to do a home test which would probably put your mind at rest. Your body at this point will still be getting over the birth of your youngest, and you've been through quite an emotional time with him recently so that's probably magnifying your fears out of proportion. See the doc or get a wee test for yourself as soon as possible. hth, xxx.

No real advice hun I'm afraid. But I would think it would be to early to take the test now. I would wait a few weeks if you can.

Thanks girls.. im really scared tbh, the whole reasn i went for sterlisation was because we just cant have any more.. not because i dont want more but for the health of myself.. also a small bit about we have the children we want and if i have any more there mummy could become very very poorly.. im not sure when af is due so i cant say i'll wait till my af is late so i think im gonna mention it to the doc on friday thats when i have my 6 week check and see what he says.. tbh im absolutly cacking it! (((crys)))

i read on internet that 1 in 200 sterlisations fail, and you have to use contraception up 4 weeks after its done, so i think i was just out of the time frame argghhhhhhhh

I think you'll be fine, but don't wait 'till Friday, talk it over with either your hv or doc tomorrow. And DON'T look up anymore on the internet, as it'll convince you of anything!

I would do a home prgnancy test is I were you, tbh i know nothing about sterilisation so I can't offer any advice there.

I would take the test and go from there.

If you were sterilised at the same time as having your baby then yes it is possible that you could be pregnant. I think thats why my sex life is a bit less frequent than either I or hubs would like, although they do say that the longer from being sterilised the lesser the chance, so I'm beginning to get back to normal! And having been sterilised at the same time as birth with my last one, yes the odds are 1 in 200. That was the figure I was given. I'm considering getting the whole lot taken out, as it is affecting my married life. But for you, as it was only 11 days ago, tests wouldn't necessarily tell you now, but what you do have to be careful about is that it may be ectopic, which is extremely common apparently (or so they told me when I was done). Get yourself to the doc ASAP just to make sure.
