As of the 19th September my eldest baby will have flown the nest.  Hayley has been excepted for the RAF and starts her basic training in September.  Having had my whole family just about in the services and some still in it has never bothered me before, of course you worry but not like this.  I would do anything for her not to join but it's her choice not mine and she has to do what she needs to do, I just pray she stays safe.

I can't imagine what that feels like at all, I'm fretting and all I'm doing is sending Alex to primary school for his first day! Bet you're wondering where all the years have gone.  That's a lovely picture of her.  I hope and pray that she stays safe too and that she really enjoys her chosen career.  Tell her good luck from me!  xxx

She's a stunning girl Sam - you must be very proud.

I won't patronise you by offering words of advice but I am thinking of you, it can't ever be easy even when they are moving around the corner, let alone joining the RAF.

Congratulations to her for being accepted though - I'm sure she's dead pleased!

All I can say is Best of luck to your daughter.

Like the girls I have no words of wisdom, chin up, I bet she will get on great.

Will she be working with some of your family members ?

They grow up too quickly. I hope she is really happy in her chosen career and enjoys what she is doing and stays safe.

I left home 3 days before my 16th birthday. I know I upset my mum because we didnt speak till my 17th even then things were still tense till I fell pregnant at 18! So I know my mum hurt when I left home but I didnt give her any warning I just packed my stuff and left.
I hope Hayley is happy and safe in the RAF.

Good luck Hayley in your new life! And good luck Sam for when she goes! I'm sure she'll be fine though. What's she going in as? I know it sounds scary when you look at the news, but honestly, as a RAF wife it isn't really that bad. The RAF community is great and we all stick together. Dh keeps suggesting ds will be a pilot in the RAF but not if I can help it! If he wants to join up then he's going to be captain of the first RAF ballroom dancing team lol!

oh helen...thats just mean!  You cant put little ben in with the regiment lol...sorry couldnt resist that one.

Sam congrats...well done her for getting into the RAF, what trade has she been accepted into.  Shell be fine and safe....a lot of trades dont go away as much as others...and not to hot sunny places either.  As a 'baby' in the RAF she probably wont be going anywhere until shes got her SACs up and knows her job..sounds horrible..but thats the way it works chica.

Mind you...there are now a few of us on here attatched to the RAF...so if she ends up on the same camp as any of us im sure we can 'adopt a girlie singlie'...and keep an eye on her and she wouldnt know where the spies were.
