Please could everyone add their parenting tips here.

It may be to do with getting the housework done, getting a child to sleep, getting them to eat healthy foods, getting them to take medicine, settling them at nursery, preparing a child for the arrival of a sibling, preparing the house for a toddler, breastfeeding, or anything else you can think of.

Please feel free to add as many tips as you want.

Many thanks.

Read to them from an early age, even if their tiny.  It'll build story time for you and the wee one(s).  It also helps befroe bedtime to settle the little one down and will build a better foundation for the future!

Rachel has been very good at night from a very early age but i put it down to Routine.

Even when Rachel was only a few weeks old we had a bed time routine. we would turn down all the lights and have the tv on very low.

We never had her in the bed with us, I think that's the biggest advice I can give.

This one sounds pretty obvious, but getting into a good routine that you know you can stick to is the best way to start even from a tiny newborn.
To start with, you need to listen to your baby at first.. ie when they want feeding, changing, sleeping and then as they get older, you can alter it slightly with a set bedtime, dinner time, bath time that sort of thing and then everyone will know where they are.

Put the baby bath in the big bath while bathing your new baby. Gets them used to it and easier for draining and filling.

Thanks girls these are fab - keep 'um coming!

Mine are:

Be relaxed. Dont fret the small stuff! Eds was never treated with kid gloves, he went everywhere we us we always used to go to. He is now a very well rounded child who is confident it the company of adults and children alike.

Don't worry if your baby doesnt seem to be following the baby manual - remember they havent read it! All children are different.

Sleep when you can, or at least put your feet up! When baby sleeps put a note of the door asking people to call back later so you wont be disturbed.

When you start weaning make up purees on mass and freeze in ice cube trays. Then you can just pop out as much as you need and it saves lots of waste and spending loads of time at each meal time.

NEVER EVER be afraid to ask for help..or to tell well meaning visitors who want to coooo and go awwwww to leave if you are tired (in a nice way of course).

Cleaning and scrubbing can wait til tomorrow

For babies grow up weve learnt to our sorrow

So quiet down cobwebs..dust go to sleep

Im rocking my baby...and babies dont keep.

Dont stress about the housework in the early days..itll still be there the next day so dont panic.  Be kind to yourself, dont beat yourself up if the washing up isnt done..nobody is supermum..theres no such thing..you can only do the best you can.

Routine for baby and what ever goes for you, if you FEEL you can do it then do it, but if you feel you SHOULD do it then stop and ask yourself why and can it wait REALLY.

I firmly believe in new style tv!  Always have a wash load ready to do, that way when your child starts playing up, sit them in front of it, and teach them the colours! lol  I can tell you it doesn't work as well with a twintub, unless they need a bath! lol

Go with your instincts.  You are mom, and you do know best!
