i really dont have any clue how to do it but have felt a little stressed about it but thats onyl because everyone elses children of same age seems to be trainin but i know they all do it at different ages!

27 months is still very young - please don't feel that everyone else's child is being trained because in reality, they won't be. The books (grrr to the books!) will tell you that children are ready any time from 18 months - I have NEVER met an 18 month old child who is potty trained! The things to look for are:

  • Being aware that they want to wee or poo
  • Having regular bowel movements
  • Having the ability to tell you they need a wee or poo
  • Having a dry nappy for an hour or so
  • Expressing an interest in the toilet or the potty
Ella is 28 months BUT I've only started to train her because she was showing the above signs. In her nursery group, there are only 3 of them using the potty/loo, 6 others around her age are not.

I think the worst thing you can do is try when they're not ready for it. This was why I was so worked up over the weekend. Don't sucome to peer pressure! She'll do it when she's good and ready and if thats when she's 3 pushing 4 then great and if its next week, also great.

go with the flow-oops sorry

lily led us-the days are ok

its the nights that are a killer, she gets herself up to use the potty, usually goes back to bed, occasionally shouts! she wont wear a nappy at night since being dry in the day-since then shes only had 1 wet night; but lots of mid night gettings up

My DD is 35 months now & I'm still in the middle of potty trainig as you can see from my other posts.

However I find my DD only tells me in the morning and just before bed. Otherwise it is up to me to clock watch every hour or so & she either goes or says "no, it's stuck" i.e. she doesn't need to wee. Did ask every 20 minutes at first but have found she doesn't need to go that often.

If she doesn't go after an hour she occassionally tells me or I take her 20 minutes after. Usually she goes and I clock watch again for the next hour.

3 DAYS ON.... Had a fantastic day today in knickers i've still asked twice but DD has been clean & dry today. Generally she's told me as well.

Best of Luck.

I'm with Lynie on this one.  Sound advice as always.

Tom has given me absolutely no sign that he's ready and I'm not going to make him.  He wears pull-ups during the day time, but is quite happy to sit in a wet nappy. Sometimes he'll ask to sit on the toilet but he's yet to christen it.  I still praise him though.

When they're ready they tend to let you know.  Another bit advice is don't panic when they regress because it's only natural.
