Well ds has stopped going to the toilet again (No:- 2's) and we ended up at the hospital this morning, as it has now been 9 days since his last poo, he takes lactulose everyday for this anyway but for some reason its stopped working and now they have given him Movicol to take and we have to go back to the dr's on monday to be referred again to the hospital specialist and she what happens from there.
They have started him on 2 sachets and told me to increase to 4 tomorrow if he still hasn't gone, this works as he is in alot of pain at the moment.

My eldest and youngest nephew's both take movicol and its been very good. I can't remember how old Joe was when he started it, but he had been on lactulose without much success, where as movicol has really helped him. I think he has half a sachet a day now. He saw a consultant who said that as he will gets older, things will start to work properly on their own but in the meantime, the movicol keeps things moving.

Awww bless him, Fred is on lactulose and Senna combined atm, but it's not working as well as it was! I hope this does the trick for you, I'm finding that Fred is a nightmare at the moment as he hasn't done more than a marble for the last week or so, and feels very bunged up. Good luck I've heard good things about it though. How much lactulose does he have and how often?

two sachets should help start him off...if nothing happens..when you have to dose him again tomorrow..give him two sachets to begin with..and then 2 -3 hours later give him the other two. Then plonk him on the loo and stand well back!
I lived on the stuff while I was having chemo. Makes your tummy make interesting noises while its doing its stuff and working its way down. Wind wise...ewwwww buy some oust..and hold your breath. He erm probably wont be able to fart with confidence once he starts to go..and there isnt much warning for when things are going to come out put it that way.

Thanks for the warning Steph, but i read this post abit to late, as i woke upto my WHOLE top half of the house, lets say, redecorated, well the carpets anyway, so needless to say i have been scrubbing them and have now borrowed my mum' carpet cleaner and now my carpets look better than ever, not that i want to do it again.
As for ds he looks and feels alot better, so we shall stay on 1 sachet and wait for the referral to come through.
