Hello Nikki

I'm Rachel, mum to three boys, Ethan (7), Noah (5) and Joe (3). We live in Leicestershire with my husband Mike.

Fingers crossed for you! My middle one didn't sleep through the night regularly until he was 2.5, and he was only 15 months old when his little brother arrived, so we arranged it that I got up for the baby, and my husband got up for Noah! Controlled crying worked on my eldest (though I hated doing it, but it only took a couple of days), but not with Noah. The only way we cracked it in the end was to leave a beaker of water in the cot with him (one of those anyway up cups) so that he could have a drink himself if he woke. Obviously he was much older at this stage, it's not something I'm suggesting that you try now! I wish I did have a magic answer, but I guess it's a personal opinion as to how much it bothers you. If you really want him to start sleeping through, maybe give the controlled crying a go for a week to see if it works, but other than that, nothing worked for me either! So I'll send you virtual hugs instead...

Hi Nikki, I'm Jain  and I'm mum to 3, Meg is 9 and Jamie & Matthew are both 7. We didn't sleep for nearly 4 years!?!?! you can see how sleep deprivation is a form of torture!!!! My health visitor suggested controlled crying when the boys were 14 months old. She reckoned that it would work in a week. I didnt believe her. It took 9 nights of hell but it did work.... along with extra meals during the day. My boys have never had big appetites  and spent the day "grazing " on little bits. She suggested giving them more mash/weetabix anything that they would eat that would fill them up. I have to say that the 2 things combined really did work. The first night they both slept all night..... I ran in poking them at 7am!!!!!

Now my sleep is interupted by an 8 week old puppy who misses her mum!!!!

fingers crossed for your test - hope you get the result that you hope for.
