Help!! Has anyone else got a daughter who is going through the hormonal stages pre puberty?  She is a lovely child most of the time, but just lately we seem to be at loggerheads all of the time. She is extremely moody, slams doors, and so cheeky. I totally get the moody bit, as it hits me for one week every month too, but I'm not sure how to deal with the rest.

Her father and I are no longer married, so I am dealing with this, and her 7yr old twin brothers on my own. I just feel like screaming!!!!!

Any suggestions?

ps. I have never done this before, so I hope I ve done it right!!!

My dd is 9 also and from what you have said you could have been talking about her and all of her mates, i just think that they grow up far to quick these days and think they should have everything without working it for it

My dd came home from school yesterday with a letter about a trip to Belgium next year for 4 nights £270 and dd thinks straight away that she is going so i say no way we just cant afford it (she is 1 of 4) and we are lookin into booking up a family holiday to spin next year. she runs up the stairs shouting and screaming that i dont love her and give her nothing and slams her bedroom door, she spends ages sulking up there and when she eventually comes out she expects me to turn around and say oh ok babe you can go. I dont think so.

I wouldnt mind but for the last 2 school years she has gone on the school trips adventure weeks 1 costing £160 and the £145 so its not like she has missed out but this we really cant afford

Sorry for the whinge its not really helped you

Could i ask when you split up from your partner??

I was 8 when my parents split up, and i turned in to the she devil overnight.. it could have been a stage of pre puberty.. but thinking back i really do think it was dealing with my parents break up.

Try giving her oil of evening primrose capsules..that should sort her mood swings out...erm another one is ordinary plain ryvitas..does the same sort of thing.  Other than that..grit your teeth and remind yourself it doesnt last forever (as well as silently apologising to your parents as you remember what you were like at the same age, I know I was and evil cow)

Aww hun, I know exactly what you are going through.  I ave a 9yr daughter and a 7yr son as well as a 3yr and 2 yr daughter and a 7 week old son.  I'm also a single parent and trying to get through the pre-puberty stages.  I've not yet found a cure except shut off for a while and do my best to get through the day.  I find my daughter is worse around the 14th of the month every month so now I prepare myself around that time though everyday she can have bad mood swings.

I dont think there is much we can do besides whats already been suggested except grin and bare it until it passes unfortunately.

Thanks Guys, I will definately try the Evening Primrose tablets although I don't think she would eat Rivitas!! She has also come home asking for money for a school day trip - nothing as exciting as bopbops daughter, but still expecting me to pay, she will have plenty of chores to do tomorrow to earn the money and has already had the talk about attitude and loosing it!

Her father and I split 3 years ago next month, but we were very carefull not to argue in front of the kids at all, and tried v hard to maintain a normal atmosphere in front of them. If they have asked questions we have answered them and they were also aware that the reason we split was not because of them, but because we wanted different things out of life and were making each other very unhappy by staying together. Only my middle one has been close to his dad over the years, so the other two weren't really upset when he moved out. ( he is my middle one by 30 seconds as the boys are twins!!)

Thank you so much for replying to me , it means a lot to know I'm not the only one in the same boat!!?!?!?!

Madmoo.
