For a while I have had the problems with my monthly cycles, and more recently I was diagnosed with PCOS. My af still hasn't arrived since receiving the necessary treatment, but I have been suffering with extremely painful abdominal pains, and some painful clotting. I didn't go to my dr as advised, mainly because of Joshua, partly because I know they wouldn't do anything. I have my gynae appointment beginning of October so was just going to wait until then. However, I've suffered with an aching arm for best part of a week, more my under arm but its not been stopping me do anything and only really notice it when I lift my arm up so Ive ignored it. Then today it was really achey, not sore as such, I put it down to first week back at work. Anyway I got home and it was still achey so I lifted my arm to just rub the area, and I discovered a lump in my arm pit. Im sure its probably my glands, Im well over due a cold lol Like a good girl (and slightly paniced one although doing my best not to) Ive booked a doctors appointment. They only had mornings one's for tomorrow and the afternoon ones are with a dr I dont really like, so she asked me what I wanted the appointment for and suddenly there was one for 3.45 today. All I keep thinking about is what Lynie said and my cousin, so I think I might be slightly over reacting, but hey best to be sure isn't it.

Hun

I know it's hard but try not to worry. There are certain categories where the surgery's can add you in for, this being one of them.

It's likely to be an ingrown hair or a inflamed lymph node, or even a spot below the skin (might be an insect bite).

The fact now days is that anything that might or could end up being cancerous in any small chance regardless of the percentages get piority, like at hospital walking wounded (come on own steam) children get seen in piority.

Keep us upto date hun,

Hugs coming your way

Tsena x

mate...glad your getting checked.

All the doc will do is examine you and have a good old poke and prod.  He/she will very probably refer you up to the hospital to the breast care unit..remember gps are NOT booby or lump specific specialists.  DO NOT get fobbed off with 'at your age its probably nothing'..they did that with me!

However, your referral will come through within days and you should get an appointment if you are referred within the next fortnight.

Yes it is scary and whathaveyou..but you CAN do it..geesh if I can anyone can.

If they do send you up there then there is a number of things they will do..and demand them if they dont.

The first thing is to be seen by the consultant who will have a feel..then you will be sent to have an ultrasound and/or mammogram done, they will probably do a core biopsy on it so they can see what it is.  That involves a local anaesthetic to the area (it stings chica but doesnt hurt) and then they use ultrasound thingy to guide the needle in..its short and quick, feels like an ear piercing gun..the thud bit not the ouch bit.

Im proud of you for getting it checked out birdy.  Im here for any info if you want it..a spades a spade, i wont scare the pants off you, but I wont cotton wool it for you either..but will tell you what you need to know.

Good luck chica..and I hope it is nothing

Let us know how you get on chris, I found a lump under my armpit last week, I posted bout it but forgot to ask the doc about it at my postnatal check.  I'll get mine checked when I got for my review next week for my anti depressants.

Well Ive been and now i feel worse than I did before.

When I started telling her I had found a lump under my arm she interupted me and said it was probably a swollen gland. I told her that I thought that too but with all my other symptoms and problems I was just a bit more concerned and wanted it checked. She asked what other symptoms so I tried to explain about the past problems, and the PCOS and the more recent problems. She said there was nothing any one could do for PCOS so I just had to learn to manage the pain, and tell my gynae at my next appointment about the new problems. She felt the lump and said, 'oh yes it is a lump, well its probably an infection then' and she has sent me off with antibiotics. She would not listen to anything else and fobbed it all off.

I hate going to the dr's, and this is the reason why. I went with the pains and was fobbed off with antibiotics, and now this. I feel totally humiliated and upset. I dont know why I bother. I know its probably not anything, but she offered me no reassurance at all.

Chris

I am sorry you didn't really get any answers and the doctor was less than helpful (putting it mildly!)

Please please keep an eye on it and demand to be seen again if it doesn't disappear.

I can't write anymore as I am totally gobsmacked

Hugs

xxxxxxxxxxxx
