I have just come back from the Dr..I took Devlin to see the Dr today as he has a bit of  wheezey chest!! The first thing the Dr Siad was" oh he is a big baby thats why he so chesty". In my defence, I explaned he was big at birth and I only feed him 4 bottles & he is weaning... I cant understand why they said its because he is so big... I have now been given and inhayler to give Devlin up to 4 times a day..

I now feel really bad!! and what makes it worse is I am so paranoide about his weight anyway... dh is at work but my friend ended coming with me as I had a big argument with the Dr last year whilst I was pregnant and didnt want to go on my own.

How rude of the doctor.  I can't believe they can call themselfs doctors when they act like that.  My dh has always said that the red book with the centile lines are silly.  If u have a big baby does that automatically make them obeses.

Don't worry hun xxxx

U shouldn't feel bad.  At the end of the day are u meant to starve poor devlin because he is not an average sized baby.  If there was a problem then surely your h/v would have said something.

Sorry hels put these docs make me so mad i have made complaints twice at my surgery lol

Hey Helen,

I used to get it over Harrys weight all the time, he was on inhailers, they called him a Happy Wheezer....but Dr said it was his weight causing him to wheeze, so i explained in a not so nice way how the hell can you starve a hungry 10month old baby, its not as if i fed him on crisps & choccies all day???

My Dr however wouldnt give me anything at first and it got to the point where he was really bad he ended up in the childrens hospital for a couple of days on a nebulizer, so on advice of Hosp i changed Gp he has since been diagnosed with Asthma, which they cant detect till there 3 apparently!, so it wasnt his weight after all!!

Dont worry about it, you know what you feed him you know yourself hes gonna be a big lad so i wouldnt bother listening to them your his mum you know best x

Helen -

You're doing nothing wrong!!! My HV told me Ella was too big last week, and it really upset me. I put a post on here and the best reply was from Vix who said "Ignore the stupid cow!" which I am doing!!!

Obviously I'm no health prof but I'd be suprised if he was wheezy cos of his size. Babies are very suseptible to dust, pollon, mites etc. My middle nephew was exactly the same.

Is there asthma or excema in your family? Its the same gene aparently. Ella is wheezy and both me and DH have asthma, so we're doing things like replacing the lounge floor with wood (it needed doing anyway) and putting blinds up - the dust is easier to control that way.

You can also get hypo-alergenic mattress covers for cots to help keep dust mites off.

HTH and more hugs again!!!

Devlin does show little signs of excema on his chest but I just but cream on it..Jamie also has a little bit she gets it on her legs and arms.. I have never asked to Dr for cream as I understand some can leave marks on the skin. (But I Dont really know). It comes and goes with both of them.

We have radiators and I have the back door open most of time..I like the fresh air, not only that I smoke But not in the house, as I was asked that question as well..She replyed with "thats the right answer I was looking for.."

I was thinking about calling my H.V just to confirm he really does need the inhayler. I dont want him to end up relying on it. If he really dont need it!!

Thank you everyoneHard Work

Aww Helen -i think docs just like 2 blame parents for things cause it makes them feel big. I bet their kids (if they hav any) r full of various illnesses but they'd never admit 2 that.

As u know Ryan has really bad excema & i could  blame myself for how bad it is cause i didnt get cream until he was 10 weeks but i dont, i just try my best now that we've got cream.

Hope Devlin is better with the inhaler & continues 2 grow steadily - i remember some1 saying the centiles havent been revised for years so dont worry urself.

As u know me, u chisi, vicki & Lorna (sorry if iv missed any1) all hav strapping lads around the same age & i think we're doing a great job
