good grief, now I am confused!  mummy77, that sounds like a right load of hassle!

Diz, from what I understood from the school, it is full-time i.e. 9am-3pm 5 days a week.  I was flabbergasted so it threw me a bit as I thought this was extreme and to be honest, it never occurred to me that it would cost me anything altho it does seem very bizarre that they would in effect give free full-time childcare.

I'll have a walk down to the school next week and find out properly, god I am such a bimbo!  Everyone else seems very clued up on all this!

Right then Mrs.... From the school term AFTER Ellie's 3rd birthday, she will be entitled to 5 x 2.5 hour sessions which will be government funded - i.e. you won't have to pay. Now if your area's hols follow ours, the Easter term starts on 7th April so Ellie will get hers from then (incidentally, Ella misses it by 7 days and so I have to wait till September! GRRRRRRR!)

You can use those sessions however you like so you could do 2 in 1 day, but you're only going to get 5 funded per week. The other thing to bear in mind is that its for a set number of weeks per year - I think its 40? or the number of weeks that older kids would be in school.

So for me, assuming I'm still working 3 days, I could use Ella's 5 sessions so I'd only have to pay for the half a day extra, the wrap around care and during the school holidays.

When my sis's kids started pre-school, she started them on 2 sessions and built them up gradually to the full 5. Joseph now goes every morning and he's 4 in November.

If it was me, I'd probably put her in for a full day and say 1 morning, the build it up to 2 mornings etc.

Does that make sence?!?
